I make smoothies. A lot. Some days I use it twice, even. I can't believe I didn't purchase this earlier because this blender blends circles around my old Oster. It is easy to clean, I have not had any trouble with it leaking (well, except for that time I didn't screw the blade in very tight, but we don't talk about that), and it is certainly loud. Not louder then my coffee grinder, but loud. If you use your blender a lot then I highly recommend it. If you use your blender once a month to make a margarita then it probably not worth the extra money.

I have never written an Amazon review before, but this blender is so great, and we feel we got it for such a steal, that I have to share. Remanufactured, but appeared brand new. The third blender I've ever owned and hopefully the last--this is by far the best. We've had it for 2 months and use it daily--smoothies with frozen fruit, malts, frozen blended margaritas--all with perfect texture, no unwanted frozen chunks. Does the best with ice of any blender I've ever used. BPA-free pitcher if the measuring numbers are red. I've been telling everyone I know about this blender. I do wonder how they can have a continual source of refurbished units for such a great product--would really not expect too many folks to return this once they've used it!

Traditional glass carafe coffeemakers tend to scorch the coffee since the carafe sits on a hot plate for hours. This significantly affects the flavor of your coffee, and increases energy usage in your home. The stainless carafe can be used as a serving pitcher for any hot or cold beverage. With the blue backlight liquid crystal display you can easily adjust setting with the push of a button. Delay brew up to 24 hours, or select instant brew. Digital clock timer in 12 or 24 hour increments. Audible beep at the end of the brewing process, and countdown timer lets you know how long the coffee has been in the carafe. I had my Vitamix blender for almost a year, before I realized that this tool existed. Once I purchased it - all become clear - this tool is essential to the peak performance of using this type of powerful blender. I use my Vitamix for smoothies, soups, sauces, drinks -- and it is a significantly easier and faster process now that I have added the tamper tool. I find that I am making many more healthy foods/drinks with expert results!

I bought this blender today even after the salesmen recommended a wide bottom Cuisinart blender for smoothies. Of course I'm a stickler for technology, and I though that this blender was really cool. The salesman warned that this model wouldn't blend ice very well, but he couldn't be more wrong. I just made a smoothie on the "Frozen Drinks" setting and it came out amazing! I then tried the "Ice Crush" setting and it was amazing. I put a few ice cubes in the blender and pressed the button and the ice turned into snow in less than 30 seconds. This blender works amazing, is built solid and looks great. I definitely recommend getting this blender, it's awesome!!!

I owned a Braun Miniprimer Plus Hand Blender, with variable speeds and broad stainless steel housing for the blades. I had it for years and worked great until the motor finally gave up, but it's no longer available. I purchased the Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender. It is supposed to have two speeds, but really hard to tell the difference and either button needs to be held down very firmly. I always have to use it at high speed and then takes a long time to completely blend. So far I have only used it for light liquids such as protein drinks, sometimes containing a cut-up banana. It can't chop any firmer fruits or vegetables.

It also cannot stand. The flimsy plastic housing for the blades has 3 little knobs on which this top-heavy blender is supposed to stand. This morning I stood it upright in its two-cup plastic container and it immediately fell over, splashing protein drink everywhere, which then ran under my coffee maker, my very heavy mixer and several cannisters. I am thankful I wasn't trying to blend hot soup on the stove.

If you aren't prepared to lay it on its side when not firmly holding it and the container its in, this blender may not be for you, either.

I loved this combination food processor-blender. It did all the work I needed, it was easy to switch out the different parts of the unit, and easy to wash and clean.

I bought the unit in late 2004, and used it until late 2008, so it lasted for 4 years.

Unfortunately, the warranty is only for 3 years and the motor burned appears to have burnt out. I would expect a blender that costs this much to last much longer especially given that I did not use it all that frequently.

For the first couple years, it performed very well, then it started to have trouble crushing frozen fruit, let alone ice. Then one day it stopped working altogether.

I may try to take it to a local repair shop, but I'm hesitant to spend the time and money to ship it off to the cuisinart repair when they are unable to give me a quote for the cost of the repair.

Update May 2010: The repair shop was unable to fix it, as the electics had gone out; it costs more to replace them than to buy an entirely new unit. The repairman said that the prices on these items had gone down significantly because they are using cheaper parts. He thought I was lucky and unusual to have had mine last for so long. At any rate, when I looked at new blenders, I thought I was buying the same unit, but I accidentally got the cheaper: Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender / Food Processor,
$78.49 ; I couldn't recommend that one LESS--very cheap and poorly made.

At any rate, I recently used my friend's top of the line cuisinart that is expressly for food processing. It slightly bigger and heavier than this model. It is far quieter and it is done processing in a couple of seconds vice a minute or so. I strongly recommend going that route.

I have owned several blenders over the years, including a blender specifically made for smoothies. The motor in this device would smoke when too much ice was used. I returned it immediately because I did not think that was safe. I also previously owned a combination food processor/blender from Hamilton Beach that was pretty efficient. However, it was a huge hassle to switch between the two devices and I stopped using it all together. I have owned this blender for over a year and it is one of the best I have ever used.

The KitchenAid blender is large, quick, and efficient. It makes short work of blending ice, no matter the amount of ingredients placed in the polycarbonate jar. The jar alone is enough to make me want to get another one. It is light, easy to clean, and the handle and contoured pouring lip makes it a breeze to get your ingredients out of it.

I have had no problems with this machine and feel completely comfortable recommending it to other people. The warranty and great customer service offered through KitchenAid covers any and all problems for the first year.

Before I bought this I checked many reviews. I chose the glass jar over polycarbonate one that would be nice, if there in no leaking possibility.
Cleaning and assembling are easier than other brand that I owned before since it is built well.
Primary purpose of this is making smoothy and ice crush. This is doing better than I expected. Especially, for ice crushing, it does crush and pulse and it is very effective. I recommend it with 5 star.

I wish people wouldnt advertise for Sams wholesale on Amazon. What they didnt mention is they paid $40 for just the machine and one bowl. At same the one with the extra bowls is $50 or more. Doesnt include gas and time and wear and tear on your car. So an equal value online would be about $60.
The one I purchased had an extra bowl and pitcher, which Sam's doesnt have. But it is the greatest little gadget. I put my blender, oster food processor and hand chopper in storage. I know this wont last as long as the oster. But for the price who cares. And the versatility is unparrelelled. You just cant do the amount of jobs with other appliances you can do with this. I love it. I just wish they would make the blade construction out of good metal instead of plastic so it will last longer. I know what these things cost from China and it would not increase the cost much if they improved the blade arm construction. But like I said it is worth, cause there is nothing out there like it.
