I admit that I did not use this product for any extensive time, and it will be returned to the store soon. Here's why.

The cover of the instruction booklet for this blender/food processor depicts it with some red juice in the blender, and slices of the lemon inside the food processor part. This is the same picture as used at amazon.com, only larger. The slices are clearly visible.

Once the processor was purchased, we decided to slice a cucumber or lemon. This turned out to be impossible, since the the only way to push the food into the processor is by pushing it through the feed tube, which is much narrower than any cucumber of lemon. Perusing the manual did not bring any discovery, though it was interesting to learn that some types of foods must be frozen before processed in this unit.

However, the picture on the cover clearly shows me that I'm wrong and there must be some other way, since the slices of the lemon inside are all perfect complete circles. There must be something I'm missing, right?

So I called Cuisinart customer service, and asked very straightforward question: how to achieve the slices of the lemon the way they are on the cover?

Answer: it's impossible. You have to cut the lemon in half first, so it fits in the feed tube.

Me: but on the cover, they are not cut in half.

Cuisinart: oh, it's just for picture.

Me: so you are saying that the main picture of your product shows the result that your product in fact can't do, right?

Cuisinart: OK, may we help you with something else?

No, I certainly don't have any other questions. If this product lies to me already on the cover, that's where it will end.

I don't why, but I was expecting amazing things out of this machine. While it does blend with the best, well, in the end, it is just a blender. I have a Cuisinart CBT-500 that is not far behind in performance (although it is ear splitting loud). Plus, the RPM meter of mine never reached 20,000. For the price, I am not all that impressed. And the 6 year warranty probably is unnecessary. I have had a $30 blender for years with fairly steady use and it hasn't burned up (just don't overload the blender, you have to add things as you go). I also didn't like the plastic pitcher as I prefer glass. And to top it off, I am pretty sure mine was refurbished (it had a few nicks on the housing), which was the final blow and when I decided to send it back. So, not bad, but nothing special.

I've had this blender for a couple of weeks now and have used it almost every day. Thus far, have only made smoothies (using frozen components), a batch of chimichurri (that I over-blended; pilot error), and an experimental ice crushing.

I'm very pleased with the blender:

1. As long as there's enough liquid involved, has not been fazed thus far by frozen items. It does what it's supposed to do very well.
2. Because the buttons are flush with pedestal, easy to clean base.
3. As blenders go, noise isn't overwhelming.

The above reads to me as a rating of 3, but I give it a 4 based on my satisfaction with it based on all kinds of blender reviews I read before I bought this one.

Some minor cons:

1. When it's really going to town at high speed, the blender sometimes walks the counter, so you've got to keep your eye on it.
2. The blender *would* be hard to clean, I think, because it was a real bear to un-do the components. However, I clean the blender by rinsing it out after use, putting a little dab of dishwashing liquid plus hot water, then I run the blender. I then rinse with hot water. Works great!
3. The owner's manual lacks much meaningful usage guidance, such as what to blend or not to blend. Or guidance on speeds for various items.
4. It's height is such that it doesn't fit under my kitchen cabinets when fully assembled, but not in use. Could be a problem for some.

What is more annoying than having your milkshake leak all over the counter. This is exactly what's happening -- the "watertight" seal went bad after several months of *minimal* use (occasional milkshakes only; no ice crushing). The motor is showing signs of impending death -- it produces a burning smell and takes increasingly longer to spin up. Why did I trade my 5-year-old perfectly working blender for this garbage?

Conclusion: stay away from Hamilton Beach.

Not much more to say. We use the blender very infrequently, but all it took was a few uses over a couple of years for the motor to stop working. Occasionally, turning the unit upside down would stir it into action, but when it did work blue sparks could be seen at the bottom and it filled the kitchen with an electric motor smell. Ozone?

Who knows, I'm definitely going to ovoid Hamilton Beach product.

i just wish they would sell it for less. someone would. it's awfully expensive. 35 bucks after shipping for a blender jar. i love my blender though and makes smoothies every morning. that's why i replaced it. anyone else i guess you may as well by a new blender because there are some nice ones out there for 35 bucks now even stainless.

I purchased my Waring Blender NEW for $20.00 and this blender jar replacement is $25 + $8 Shipping. Is this nuts or what? It's cheaper to buy one new. So, I went to Kohl's with a $10 off certificate I got in the mail and I purchased a NEW Black and Decker blender with glass jar, out the door, for $28.00 and am throwing away perfectly good Waring base, blades, gasket, and jar holder.

What a waste!!!

This blender jar replacement shouldn't cost more than $10 + $5 shipping.

Great blender. I used to make smoothies with it all the time until we moved to France and had to sell it (volt converter costs as much as the blender itself...) Chops frozen fruit real well too. Try plain yoghurt + frozen raspberries + canned peaches + ice cubes + honey for a healthy but tasty snack!

I just bought this blender last week and have made about 5 smoothies with it. For smoothies, I use frozen fruit, protein powder and rice milk. I let the frozen fruit sit in the rice milk for 5 minutes to start thawing out the fruit. Still, this POS blender cannot chop the fruit. The motor revs and revs and you can smell the little motor toiling away. Only the fruit at the very very bottom gets blended. I have to stop and stir and blend again. I wonder how long this motor will last as it strain to the verge of overheating.

I thought that $300 for a high quality blender was too much. I thought that if this one wore out and broke after a year, I would just buy another. That was a good theory provided that the blender could easily make a smoothie. I guess this would be good for soups but I am not even going to go there. I am going to return this ASAP.

If you do a lot of cooking or expect to blend ice or frozen fruit, keep looking for another blender. Trust me.

First of all, I chose this blender because another reviewer mentioned that the insides of the cups are smooth - not true. I kept it anyway, and after less than 10 gentle uses, the cup got stuck in the base while it was blending. I called Sensio Customer Service and was told that sometimes when you're blending ice, a vacuum is created. (Isn't ice blending one of it's major uses?) They suggested I heat it up with a hairdryer to break the vacuum. No luck. Then they suggested I break the cup (no suggestions on how) to break the seal. I drilled a hole in it and still no luck. Then they suggested I return it to Amazon (though I was past the typical return window). Amazon was more than kind in accepting it. Bottom line is this - the blender is nothing special when it works, it breaks easily, and Sensio Customer Service is a joke.

I bought an open box blender for cheap so I could replace my base which has a
broken rubber impeller (the part that drives the blades in the cup base that
you insert into the base). The original impeller rubber all shredded off from
inserting and removing the blender cup many times - not a quality setup there.
If the impeller was made of a better material or the contact was made better
each time a cup was dropped in, it would be a good unit. My only other problem
was the largest cup was too small for me - I would have liked a full quart
version too. A nice change would be to make the impeller replaceable and give
you a spare.

I was looking for a smoothie blender and this one works great! I use frozen fruit and sometimes ice and and it blends both with ease for a nice smooth consistency. It's also easy to clean. It only takes me 5 minutes in the morning from start to clean up to have the perfect smoothie.

I usually dread making my post work out shakes and would rather mix it up in water because I can't stand the ice chunks that most blenders leave behind. This blender has my shake ready without the clumps, perfectly frothy, with the right textures. I haven't been this excited about a product in a while, and that's pretty sad. I highly recommend that you stop searching and buy this blender today!
