This is probably the worst stick blender I ever purchased. When trying to blend milk (nothing added) the motor constantly stops forcing me to reset every 2-3 seconds. If I feel daring enough at actually add protein powder to be mixed in the problem only grows worse. It doesnt matter which blade I use, they both have the same problem. Im not even adding ice. I tried that once and literally the blender stopped about 1/2 second after starting every time about 20 times until i gave up and grabbed my Cuisinart corded blender.

I've also been stupid enough to try and use this thing to blend soup a few times. Mixing directly in the pot is never going to happen. And if you follow the 'instructions' by mixing less than a cup at a time in a smaller bowl, it will take forever. I've never known anyone who makes soup to only make 4 cups at a time. But even when doing it the 'correct' way, it still stops constantly in the smaller batches. When blending a real batch of soup, this blender is the most inconvenient piece of trash you will ever use. Use your corded blender, even the $20 generic one from the local department store is better than this by leaps and bounds.

Now getting to the start mechanism. It is probably the most inconvenient thing I have ever encountered when given the constant stalling. First you have to press and hold button A for 1 second. While still holding and pressing button A with your index finger, use your middle or ring finger to press button B. Depending on how hard you press button B determines if it stalls out on normal speed in 3 seconds, or if your stall out in 'fast' speed in 2 seconds. Press A wait, press B, stall, press A wait, press B, repeat constantly.

If having this thing stop every 2 seconds forcing a restart is what you want buy this blender. If you don't have OCD buy something else.

This product seemed great at first, must have been the fact that it was brand new and shiny, but after about a month of usage, it just started to sound wrong, like the blade was spinning at a bad speed, or something wasn't catching right. Well, a few hours ago, while making a smoothie, the part connecting the blade to the base just snapped off. At first I thought it could have been my fault, but then realized that I am of average intelligence, and know how to use a blender, so it was probably the fact that the connecting piece was made of flimsy PLASTIC which made it crack and fall off. Save your money, buy something with metal parts, this blender WILL let you down.

I bought this to do my morning smoothies. It is faster that any blenders I've ever had and very easy to clean. It is just fabulous! I would recommend this highly.

My wife purchased this from a local retailer on sale. This blender does blend shakes well. But the blade attachment leaks into the blender base, so I am not sure how long this will last. In addition, one of the plastic bumbers in the blender base has come loose. I've only used this product for 1 week and I've already run into these problems. In addition, you can only blend smaller quantities with the bullet. Save your money and get a conventional blender that will last for years.

We were given this as a wedding gift 3.5 years ago. We rarely used it (maybe half a dozen times?), but when we did it seemed to work ok. We just started using it to make baby food and the motor started smoking on us...we've used it less than a dozen times and it's no longer under warranty! For this kind of money with all the options it seems like a good deal...but BUY SOMETHING ELSE!

Paid $80 for this blender. I used it for 2 months then it just died. All we did is make smoothies with it. What a piece of crap. Never again will I buy a Cuisinart!

So, yeah, this blender is pretty, and my occasionally-used 6-year-old model IS still running, so I'm giving it an extra star for that. However, every time I blend something from ice to berries it smokes and emits terrible burnt-rubber smell. I really can't overdo it. I've been terrifed to use it very often or for anything heavy-duty. I do not think anyone who wanted to use this more than occasionally would get much use out of it.

VIKING must have written the other reviews.This is a $50-$75 blender.Tall,tippy and made of brittle plastic.It is very light weight though,just like a $50 blender(tiny motor)the expensive part.In all honesty I did not use it,I put it right back in the box and returned it to cooksplus.$28 restocking fee yikes, $17 return shipping. It only cost me $45 to look at this $50 blender that sells for $150.Buy almost anything else anywhere else.

I purchased this just under a year ago after my $40 blender died a smokey death. I decided to get a "good" one this time since buying a blender every year is getting old. At $150 it was not as expensive as the $500 Vita-Mix but more than I was used to spending. My first impression was that it wasn't any more powerful than my prior $40 blender. It wasn't really better in any way. The blender worked good with liquidy items but couldn't muscle through anything like smoothies or malts. Sadly after a smoothie every weekend it only lasted 42 smoothies and the smoke started pouring out. TOAST! Actually, it smelled bad from the start during thick stuff. Go cheap or go expensive. This one is a waste of money since it seems to preform the same as a much cheaper version.

We registered and received this blender for a wedding gift. We didn't use it for about 5 months, then I made one protein shake. It began to vibrate excessively, the base got hot and it smelled as if it was burning. It stalls and does not differeniate between settings. Clearly, this problem is similiar to others which indicates a Oster manufacturing problem not simply an isolated incident. I will certainly exchange this blender for a different brand.

I paid more for this product because I thought it was of higher quality...I was wrong. We used our bender maybe once or twice a week and have had it about a year before the "grinding" started. For some reason the blade will not seat down on the shaft of the motor cleanly. I have to push down to try to get it engaged. I'm reluctant to spend more money for parts on it because it should've lasted longer than this to begin with. Not reccommended.

This unit is difficult to clean, mostly because of the ridiculous pour spout. It really serves no purpose other than making things difficult. I find it quite easy to lift the jar and pour the contents as you would with a gallon of milk or any beverage. Also, the plastic base that attaches to the jar absorbs the smell of everything you blend and cant start to smell foul after only a few uses. I received this item as a gift but if I were in the market for a smoothie maker I would go for a regular blender with no pour spout and one that's made with better materials. Probably a Waring blender or something of the sort.

My Mother had an Oster blender from the 1970's for over 30 years and it worked great until the last few years. So I went and bought her a new one but it was terrible and had an awful burning smell. So I thought there was a defect just in that particular blender, and I returned it and foolishly got another one. The new one is just as bad and since I bought it at Filene's (which closed) I can't even return it. I bought a KitchenAid recently and even though it was $100.00 it was worth every penny. It's wonderful! I will never buy another Oster product again. I was so disappointed. I don't understand what happened to the quality of their product and it's interesting that other people have had the same experiences.

Doesn't crush ice too well. Leaves small chunks. Stuff on the top doesn't make it down to the blade. I got this thing to make stuff like frozen margaitas, but it just doesn't blend the ice and the mix and alcohol into a smooth drink. I predict the item will hit the garbage when I find one to take it's place. I think I will give Hamelton Beach a try.

Forget about this one. Not worth it regardless of price. Very disappointed.
