I didn't buy this blender through Amazon, but through a retail store. It works fine for me. I don't use ice in my smoothies so I can't address that problem. But making smoothies either in the travel cup or the main blender poses no problems with chunks left over. I use milk, protein powder and frozen fruit, usually berries, strawberries, and/or bananas. It has worked great for me and the travel cup is so convenient. I'm thinking about ordering another travel cup.

Not as good as advertised. 2 out of 5 stars.

I bought this blender because 1) it was cheap (on sale) 2) the box said that I would have no more ice chunks 3) I liked the idea of a travel cup since I mostly blend smoothies for myself.

Well I tried crushing ice and got lots of chunks. So I took out some of the chunks and tried again but still ended up with lots of chunks. I tried 6 cubes but still had chunks left over. Then I tried blending a banana smoothie on the travel cup, I was careful not to fill it above the "Max Fill" line. I had several chunks of banana left over, even if I leave it blending for about a minute.

I should have bought the other blender that was on sale but I was sold on the travel cup and "No more ice chunks!". Oh well.

Two words: ice bits. If the whole Hamilton Beach line uses this same blade design, I don't see how any of their blenders can handle ice. If the product didn't claim to be good for, oh, crushing ice, that might be ok. The travel cup is hard to use, and it's hard to get it off the blender and put together without making a bit of a mess until you've practiced.
