I couldn't be happier with this immersion blender. It is strong, efficient and fast. Though it's size is a bit larger than the blender I had in the past, it's quality is worth the little bit of extra space it takes up in my kitchen. I highly recommend this KitchenAid tool!
Awesome! 5 out of 5 stars.

Love this immersion blender! I love especially the detachable wand on the blender, makes clean up especially easier without the fear of getting water inside the motor. Wish it would add air to egg whites, but no matter. Still fantastic!
Motor drive coupler is weak 3 out of 5 stars.

The coupler in the motor for the mixer shaft doesn't last too long. It would be nice if this one weak part could be easily replaced, instead of having to buy a new motor/set. This part is available on the table top mixers.
make SMOOTHIES if .., 5 out of 5 stars.

If you start processing your smoothie with the liquids first and gradually add small size frozen or fresh fruits and CRUSHED icy bits (not big cubes), you can make a delicious smoothie drink real quick. I like to add 1-2 T ground flax seeds to mine but you don't have to. Here is a recipe I like.
Start with 1 banana, 2 oz yogurt = (about 1/3 of a personal size yogurt cup), 2T fz OJ concentrate, 1/2 C ice water, then start adding 1/2 C blueberries, 1/2 C mixed berries OR raspberries, (cut up the lg strawberries first with a knife IF they are frozen), add crushed ice chips. Add flax meal last (or omit).
Let this powerful blender do the work at it's own pace. Don't force it down hard to chop everything immediately, be patient and start slowly. I put ice cubes in a sandwich bag and turn my hammer sideways and smash them into crushed ice to add to the smoothie (FUN). If your fruits are frozen, then you don't even need the ice.
This recipe tastes better than the smoothies I was paying $5.oo ea for at the mall! This blender works wonderfully for soups too.
