I've had this little gem only a few days, but have already put it through a few paces. I bought the "professional" model for the extra power (50 watts doesn't seem like much, until you try to crush ice). The unit is easy to set up, store, and clean. I like the fact that the power unit is very small yet powerful. The power "pod" moves from one container to the other without the necessity of cleaning blades if several different items are being chopped or blended. My first smoothie came out without any lumps of either ice or frozen fruit, something that was impossible in my more expensive Krups machine. I've made salsa in the smaller bowl, then blended icy Margaritas in the pitcher in the next moment without having to clean the blades or bowls (each bowl/pitcher comes with a specific blade set just for that container). I find it practical, simple, and sturdy. Great value for the money, because you are getting a blender with 2 sizes of pitchers (40 and 48 oz), plus a food processer with a 16oz bowl. Each comes with a separate lid in case you wish to store in the same bowl...although I don't think this is something I will do. I must still remind myself to PULSE the machine as there are no controls like on a traditional blender or food processor, but I've retired my Krups and the Oster in favor of this model. The parts are dishwasher safe, but very easy to hand wash, also. So far, I love it!

The Krups Motor Technik is a unique electronic motor control system that provides constant power and speed whatever the load, ensuring consistent, professional results and allowing intensive heavy-duty use. Unloaded, most kitchen machines have high rotation speed. When a blender is loaded with ingredients, the rpm level drops dramatically, decreasing the rotation speed and effecting performance results. I am very disappointed in this product because it is not capable of performing the task of creating smoothies as described in the advertisements. I tried using it with fruits and greens but it left tiny pieces of the fruits and greens in the drink, and it was not enjoyable to drink. Maybe it works well if you want to use it with juices rather than the full fruits and greens. I do not recommend this product because it seems to lack the power it is advertised to have.

We make a lot of frozen smoothies using frozen strawberries. That way, you dont need to add ice. On ice crusher mode, this blender quickly makes a nice strawberry mash, which can then be combined with juice and other fruits to make a great drink. Other blenders have had trouble cutting through the hard strawberries.

We have had occasional leaks. The bottom says not to overtighten. I think that, if you make it as tight as you can by hand (without using the tool), you'll be fine. It takes a bit of experience to get this right.

Another tip: don't overfill. I know it says this, but I tend to push the limit. Don't. If you overfill, it won't blend everything.

Received this as a gift less than two years ago and it stopped working after no more than 12 uses. Received little help from Breville customer support as it is out of warranty. They provided a list of authorized out-of-warranty service providers...closest one is 200 miles away. I expected more for $250 and something purchased from Williams-Sonoma.

I wanted a no nonsense non digital, no fancy added parts or settings blender to make milk shakes, smoothies & slushy drinks. This one has a knob and has a low & high setting only, altho it will pulse.

THIS blender does all this perfectly! It is fast & powerful, minimal cleanup and the blender jug does not weigh a . My
last blender was a pricey one that burned up its motor after a few months. This one is more powerful & I think will be around for a while.

Very high quality. With most things, you get what you pay for. This one was purchased to replace a Black and Decker one that had a hard time making shakes with hard ice cream. This blender has no issues.

I have never paid this much for a blender, and it turns out I should have followed that logic again. This is the worst blender I have ever used. It sprays whatever I am blending all over the place every time I use it. The only way to keep it from doing this is to fill it only 1/4 full which completely defeats the purpose of having a blender with a large jar. It never crushes ice completely and the plastic piece on the top leaks even when it is screwed in as tightly as possible. I dread needing to use the blender for my recipes. The only positive aspect of this blender is that the base is sturdy.
