I used this blender exclusively for smoothies using frozen fruit and various liquids, and it was cool while it worked. However, the connection between the base and the pitcher is rubber and wore out quickly, rendering it useless. Unless you use this product exclusively with relatively soft items, it will most likely not live long and prosper.

When you get this item for less than half the price of a Magic Bullet, I was tempted to buy this - Overall it is a good blender and does pretty much most of the things which a Magic bullet can do, but my only disappointment is that it is not built well, here are some details:

* Does the job well, but not as good as the Magic bullet. something which would take 1 minute on the Magic bullet would probably take about 1.5 minutes

* Poor platic quality on the mixer jars - The jars have lost their shape to a slight degree after a few times in the dishwasher - can't these guys put some decent plastic in their jars ?

* Poor quality gaskets and sealing - There is a small rubber gasket (sealant) which seals the blender jar and the blade - the gasket is so poorly designed and build that it sometimes leaks and spills liquids into the blender, sometimes drops off into the contents of the blender

Overall, my suggestion is that if you are planning to use this to make some quick smoothies & shakes - go ahead and buy this - at $17 it is worth every dollar, no need to pay $60 for a Magic bullet.

But if you are planning some heavy kitchen work - stay away from this blender - you will have to trash this in a 2-3 months.

Note:
If you are planning to buy this blender: I just saw that the price on this item was $59.99 (offered by Macys) - it is a ripoff by macys. Try looking elsewhere on the net for prices around $20-$25, or hopefully amazon will offer this directly as better prices.

I've had this blender in black for 3 years with no problems. And for a guy, I like the functionality. Speed settings are slow... or fast. Nothing like, puree, frappe, stir, mix. Just slow... or fast. Pretty simple. I've crushed frozen fruits. Blade still looks good. But I just chipped the glass jar at the bottom. Now it won't seal. That surprised me. Maybe the glass isn't as tough as it feels. But still a great blender. Except I bought mine...in the store, on sale.

We used this blender maybe 5 times before the metal piece that makes the blade turn broke off. It's cheaply made and do not suggest this product to anyone. We havent had any luck with Oster products.We returned the blender twice and the same thing happend both times.

I love this blender. I use it a lot and it has never failed me. I make smoothies once or twice a day in it and it is so convenient and easy to use and the clean up is quick. Plus it is sturdy, I have had mine for well over two years and it is as good as new. The motor is strong and gets the job done. I would recommend you use crushed ice in the Tribest rather than whole cubes of ice as the container is too small to properly crush the ice. One suggesting would be to get extra blending containers as I have has a tendency to lose them. It comes with two containers and I have lost one already and leave the other one as work a lot by mistake. I would suggest having 4 containers so you do not need to wash the same one over and over like I do. I am buying two more as I write this.

By the way a friend of mine has the Magic Bullet and she said it is garbage so I showed her this one. Now she is going to buy one for herself. She said the quality of the Tribest is much better than the Magic Bullet. I never used the MB so I cannot say if this one is better but this is what she told me just for your information if you were considering the Magic Bullet.

I love this blender. Its hard to find one that actually chops and blends frozen fruit such as strawberries, mangoes and peaches. Its done a terrific job!!

This product is great because it is so flexible! Whatever you need to do, it does. I had an old one that we wore out and when it came time to et a new one, I bought the same product. This one is even better designed than the earlier version, and I just love it!

This machine is FABULOUS! Well worth the money.I think I looked at every drink maker on amazon at least 4 times before deciding on this.I have used it almost every day since it arrived and can't wait till summer to use it while entertaining.Unlike blenders,the ice is shaved from the top and so it is a much smoother drink with no chunks of ice or ice clogging the blender blades.Simply pour ice (or frozen juice cubes) into the top,add your mix and/or fruit to the blender and in moments you have a perfect frozen drink.Cleanup is a breeze.If you use frozen juice instead of ice,simply rinse with warm water.No more having to spend $5.00 for a smoothie every day anymore.

I'm not sure if the bad reviews are written by people that have read the instructions, but it seems clear to me that they are not using this product correctly. First of all, if you are making a drink that has ice included, you always use the stainless steel blender. If it was just a milkshake with ice cream, then you can use the smoothie attachment. Personally, my breakfast drink in the morning always has some ice mixed with soymilk, soyogurt, flax meal, soy protein powder, stevia and flavoring (I use Frontier). The Breville works perfectly every time. The "stalling out" occurs to protect the motor--not a problem, though. The mixing jug is polycarbonate--I prefer glass, but that is simple enough to change. The polycarbonate jug is pretty tough, though. The Breville BCS500XL is heavier than the corded models, but I much prefer the extra weight to the cord. When I use it to puree soups (which is SOOOO much better than trying to use a regular blender) I prefer not to have a cord hanging across the counter and stovetop. I really love this product!! If you question anything about it, just buy it from a good dealer that accepts returns without hassles.

In summary, this unit takes up little space on the countertop, is light enough for a wimp like me, is easy to use (two buttons have to be pushed at once--can you handle that?), is actually a 9.6 volt and works like a dream! Did I mention that I love this product?!!

Fortunately I won't have to live with the cheap looks of this pitiful appliance any longer! I thought I was taking care not to overheat the motor, always processing small amounts for short periods of time, but in less than 2 years of very light use (at a house I only visit on summer weekends) the SmartPower Blender quit working right in the middle of a job. No smoke, no smell, no grinding noises, no signs of trouble... I let it rest as usual between pulses and it simply never started again. I've repaired numerous gadgets in my life, but this one goes directly into the trash. Meanwhile my old Waring works like a horse!

Probably fine for stirring Kool-Aid, otherwise not recommended.
