While this blender may look pretty on your counter-top, that's about all it's good for. Nice retro styling from Oster but the product is useless, just like their toaster-oven. I have owned this door stop for over a year. It will only blend something that is completely liquid. Never mind smoothies or sauces, etc. I end up blending it myself with a spoon or just dealing with huge chunks. It is also extremely loud. I am still on the hunt for a good working blender at a reasonable price. This isn't it and I'll never buy another Oster product.

Powered by a 500-watt motor, this classic blender blends margaritas and smoothies, mixes soups and sauces, chops fruits and vegetables, grinds coffee beans and nuts, grates cheese and coconut, and crushes ice. The blender has a high speed and a low-speed pulse control, which can be held down for continuous action. Its 40-ounce, ribbed-and-tapered glass container fits onto Oster's distinctive beehive-shaped base, which is clad in lustrous chrome and outfitted with slip-proof rubber feet. Its stainless-steel blade-assembly removes for cleaning, and the container is calibrated in both ounces and liters. Fully assembled, the blender stands 16 inches high on a 7-1/4-inch-diameter base. This blender is very powerful. It is also quite heavy and feels like it has quality manufacturing and finishing. It pulverizes ice in about 2 seconds flat, and has no problem blending even when completely full. The only problem is that the pour spout is almost non-existent, so depending on the consistency of what you blended, pouring can be tricky (particularly with thick frozen drinks). Great deal for the price.

Product like new. We broke our glass pitcher on ours and it was only a little more to buy an entire reconditioned blender than ordering a new glass pitcher.

this is an awesome blender. I bought it for $34 in reconditioned form. The item came as if it were (maybe it was) brand new!! Everything was clean, not used, individually wrapped in plastic packages. You can tell it has a strong motor and it does a wonderful job blending, crushing, etc. The bottom of the pitcher is plastic although it looks silver. The base is stainless. Great product for what i paid for it!!!! Would highly recommend!

Overall, the blender is ok. If you aren't a heavy blender user but want one for the occasion when you feel like making a shake or sauce or something, then this blender meets that need.
The Pros:
It has a small footprint, so it won't be taking up too much counterspace.
It has a real glass jar, not plastic.
It does an adequate job blending most things, however you may have to stop and push the ice cream down a few times if making a milkshake
It's medium capacity is perfect for blending 2 good sized milkshakes without accidently making too much or having to make 2 different batches.
The Cons:
The jar doesn't sit exactly level, and if it's off kilt even a bit, it starts shredding the black plastic ring that holds everything on.
Doesn't really make thick milkshakes like we all dream of making. They are ok, but not the uber thick ones. If you try to make the uber thick ones, you are rewarded with the smell of burnt motor.
All in all, it's an ok product, and if you are a casual user of such an appliance, you'll find this one will meet your needs. If you planned on daily use, I'd reccomend something a bit stronger and better made, as the jar sitting and plastic ring could become an issue over time.

This blender will do anything you ask of it, from breezing through ice to purees or shakes, its powerful motor makes the task easy. The blender makes a handsome addition to your kitchen also. It was a bargain for the price.

I ordered this blender - model 54245. Unfortunately, the wrong manual was placed in the box by Hamilton Beach production - wherever that is. I've uploaded two photos of the wrong manual. I wanted to order an accessory, but the drawing that shows the parts doesn't look anything like this blender. In addition, the back of the manual shows the "modelos" numbers, which doesn't include 54245.
Dear Hamilton Beach - please have your Quality Assurance dept do an audit of this production line.
I've now downloaded the CORRECT manual from Hamilton Beach's website.
It's not just this issue that bothers me. I have another negative review on Amazon for a Hamilton Beach cutter blade that I ordered. The box for that cutter blade showed the old-style cutter blade, but what was in the box was the new "wave action" cutter blade - the box showing something completely different than what was inside. I'm quickly loosing my trust in ordering anything Hamilton Beach. Click on my username to see that review.

The heavy-duty motor base is up to both blending and processing tasks, and won't "walk" on the counter, even when it's crushing ice. Use the blender with its dripless pour spout to make and serve 40 ounces of frozen drinks or to purée baby foods or soups; use the processor to prep up to 3 cups of vegetables, cheeses, nuts, and meats. With one motor base, it's simple to keep the blender out on the counter and then bring out the processor attachment for special tasks.This is an amazingly sturdy product, with tight-fitting lids, a heavy glass blender jar, and a motor that chops meat or ice with equal aplomb. One of my criteria in my blender search was that it had to be red. When I found this one and read the (mostly) good reviews I decided to take the plunge and buy it.
It's a very pretty blender and the container is glass, which I really like. It's sturdy and well-made.
Unlike some of the reviews, however, I am unable to get ALL the ice to totally crush, no matter what setting I use. It's not enough to make the beverages undrinkable, but that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
It's definitely a good value for the money!

This little guy powers through just about everything you throw at it. It crushed ice and made margaritas like that was its job. The "Wave-Action" design actually does help mix things around inside the blender. The only con is that it is pretty noisy, especially when doing ice or icy drinks, but that's a loud process regardless of what blender you use.
