I've had this blender in black for 3 years with no problems. And for a guy, I like the functionality. Speed settings are slow... or fast. Nothing like, puree, frappe, stir, mix. Just slow... or fast. Pretty simple. I've crushed frozen fruits. Blade still looks good. But I just chipped the glass jar at the bottom. Now it won't seal. That surprised me. Maybe the glass isn't as tough as it feels. But still a great blender. Except I bought mine...in the store, on sale.

I found this blender listed in Good Housekeeper's archive for the best blenders. I have to say I completely agree with the rave. It does an awesome job with blending everything together without chunks. Also, the presentation of the blender is very classy as well!

I bought this Waring MX1000 because of all the good reviews it had here at Amazon. I thought I was getting the best. Boy was I disappointed. Everybody else seems to love it.

Pros: Powerful.

Cons: Expensive, loud. It's a commercial model so don't expect any recipes whatsoever, or intructions or ideas on how best to use the machine. There's no warranty card so make sure you keep the receipt from the company you bought it from. The manual, if you can call it that, is a sparse two sheets of stapled copy paper. It's bulky. And it stops running entirely after two months of normal use. I did not abuse the machine, unless using it to crush ice is abuse.

I was ready to give it 3 stars until it stopped working. Motor death. It might be a lemon. People who are expert blenders and who know exactly what to do with a powerful blender they've never used before might be happy with this one. Just as long as they don't need a smidgeon of instructions.

For me, I'm supposed to get an RMA and a refund shortly. I think I'll go with Blend-tec or Vitamix now. In the meantime I'm alone and blenderless.

Great blender. I used to make smoothies with it all the time until we moved to France and had to sell it (volt converter costs as much as the blender itself...) Chops frozen fruit real well too. Try plain yoghurt + frozen raspberries + canned peaches + ice cubes + honey for a healthy but tasty snack!

I wish I could recommend this made in the USA product but we don't always make long lasting products. This blender does perform great as long as you don't break any of the parts. OK, there really is only one part to break, the blade. I've broken it twice in the two years that I've owned it. Once by accidentally dropping it on my stone tile floor, the other time by just using it. That's right, it's supposed to crush ice easily, but I've never tested it with ice, just frozen fruit in very moderate quantities. The plastic holder for the blade still gave up. I'm going to get something more sturdy this time. The engine started giving off too much burning odor anyway and that just for making smoothies twice a week. Not good.

Earth to Waring, Earth to Waring: Standard American kitchens are designed with 18" of clearance from the counter top to the bottom of the cabinets. Your 18 3/8" tall mixer DOES NOT FIT on most kitchen counters. Hello, Waring, do you copy?

The unit looks well made, but the ridiculously tall design makes it impossible to store. It's also overpriced. It's going back...
