We owned this little gadget for all of 5 days before it tipped over on the counter and shattered upon impact with our countertop. What a total bummer. When we first got it I did think it seemed tippy; it's quite tall and skinny, and doesn't have any kind of base or foundation like other Bodum glass containers, which would have helped stabilize it more.

For those five days, though, it did make very good foam in 30 seconds, as promised. I checked Bodum's site and they sell extra glass containers for $10. Obviously they must know how easily this thing breaks. Not sure why it needs to be glass; it could be plastic and wouldn't make a difference on performance or looks.

Didn't spring for the $10 extra glass beaker. I'll just think of this a $20 mistake.

I searched high and low for a milk frother for my husband. We needed something simple, quick and relatively inexpensive. We both LOVE the Faenza. A quick heating in the microwave, a few fast pumps and very easy to rinse & hand wash to clean. I was skeptical as to how well this would work...but to my amazment it very quickly makes a thick foaming froth. It can make a little bit of mess if you overfill the cup, but it's not bad, just set cup in the sink or lay down a towel. It makes a devine mocha with our Bialetti Moka express! Can't wait for hot chocolate this winter! Highly recommend this frother!

I've bought 3 of these. I have had mine for about a year and I love it. I make soy lattes and chai soy lattes all of the time. The wand is magic-just takes about a minute to froth the milk and get as much foam as you want. I recently bought 2 more for gifts.

LOVE this - makes thick foam in less than one minute, best with skim milk = saved calories. Makes individual shakes for the kids, small batches of whipped cream, rises off easily, has made the morning coffee that much better. It's the little things.

This thing is really handy - and though I read reviews before I bought it that said that the battery cover slips open all of the time, I haven't had that issue. It's almost silent and quickly froths the milk just the way I like it! :)

This is my new favorite toy and I think it will be a favorite for a long, long time. It works like a charm to turn hot milk into a delicious foam for your coffee. I usually put about an ounce of my favorite Sugar-Free Torani syrup in the bottom of a mug along with about a 1/2 cup of milk. I microwave it for one minute and then froth it. It starts to foam up instantly and when I've created enough foam I pour my hot coffee over the top and the foam is lifted up. I'm sure I'll find lots of other recipes that I will love the longer I have this. I plan to buy one for all my coffee-loving friends this year. If you notice your not getting the milk to foam up much it's probably time to replace the batteries. Enjoy!

This little compact, portable product was easy to use, quick and very easy to clean. It whips up a batch of froth from skim milk in no time at all. The only thing I did not like about it was the battery compartment was very hard to close.
Overall a very good product at an inexpensive price.

The unit makes great froth BUT it takes four batteries and it is heavy and difficut to reassemble once the batteries are installed. It is also very difficut to push down and maintain the pressure on the frothing mechanism. I do not reccommend this product if you have arthritis in your hands or fingers.

Although I am not a big fan of Black and Decker products, I found this Beverage Frother to be quite good and well made. The device is small enough that you can use it in just about any size drinking cup of your choice but the motor is strong enough to handle almost any drinking size glass. The handle got a good non-slip grip on it while it is not water resistance, as long as you don't soak it, it should perform well. It is perfect for mixing powder and liquid of almost any kind. This works well for mixing powder medication with liquid as well. Run on two AA batteries with an excellent life, I have been using this device for over a year and it has yet to break down.

On the down side, you can't adjust the speed, only the duration of the mixing and that depends on your own sense of timing to get it right. The on and off button is on the butt end of the handle. If you slightly press on it, it will run as long as there is that pressure. Harder press will turn it on and requires you to press again to turn it off. So if you hold it like a joy stick with your thumb on the button, the control is actually quite good. I used this quite often to mixed my Nestle Quik with milk and got the spin control down to a perfect science. Just make sure that you turn off the device prior to taking it out of the liquid. Otherwise, you will get spatter by the rotating spinner.

Excellent device and quite reliable, this come highly recommended. You can probably buy it cheaper at your local stores then at Amazon (in Anchorage's Fred Meyer stores, the regular price of this device is around $12.00 although right now, its selling for S9.00..I brought three more just to last me for the rest of the century).

This little frother that uses 2 AA batteries works great. I no longer need to go to Starbucks to get good frothed coffee! This is a better design in many ways than the original frother which used 4 AA batteries and had a spinning disc that looked like it could double as a Dremel tool. That one worked well, but if you touched your mug with it, marred the ceramic glaze.

This is a much better design, like a mini wisk, and it is a really good price.

This is the third purchase I've made on Amazon.com for a Back to Basics hot cocoa maker. I've purchased two of the smaller size models in both plastic and stainless steel. They enable me to heat and serve hot milk lattes, hot cocoa and even chai. All of these B2B products share one basic and fundamental design flaw--they do not have a non-stick surface and are impossible to keep clean after the milk burns and scalds onto the bottom metallic heating plate. Other than that they are quite perfect in a variety of ways:

1. quickly and thoroughly mixes your ingredients (if you are making hot cocoa or anything else you'd like to have hot and well mixed)
2. creates a nice rich frothy foam on top of the milk in the container that you can then spoon onto drinks and top off your beverages (lattes, hot cocoa, machiattos, etc.).
3. maintains a constant hot temperature of your beverage over time that is safe enough (~140 degrees) for extended holding periods when you choose to both mix and hold your hot cocoa, milk or other mixture in the pitcher itself and leave it sitting atop the heating motor...

However, you pay a steep price every time you use one of these to it's full potential--scraping burnt milk off the bottom of the container that has built up on and adhered onto the metal heating plate.

I've contemplated some ideas to get around this scalded milk issue: I called Focus Electrics Group LLC and talked to them about the problem, asking that they develop up a non-stick product line (they said they'd discuss it at their next design meeting) but they offered no solutions and asked me to tell them if I found one! The possible home fixes I've thought of but not yet tried so far are:

a. spray the heating plate with PAM or another odorless, tasteless non-stick application each time
b. immediately empty the container when the mixture is done and do not use it to dispense or hold any milk products (i.e. mixing only)
c. try to season the heating element with a non-stick coating, like a cast iron skillet (doubtful because you have to heat the element hotter than it currently goes when making hot chocolate and the plastic container it is set in would melt).

The simple facts are that using these B2B products requires quite a bit of ongoing cleaning effort for a very good result. It leaves you enjoying the fruits of your labor but then wishing for much better at cleanup.

I'm frustrated enough to write a review because I believe such a good product could be a great product. However, apparently the company doesn't care as much as I do, or maybe they've found it's just too expensive to put a non-stick coating onto their products (and of course fix the other durability issues cited by other reviewers). Unfortunately, I'm currently returning my 60 ounce unit to Amazon because it stopped heating milk... yes, the paddle still spins, but no hot anything anymore.

So this product gets three stars in a cursed / blessed existence--I still want the muddled value from it because I can't find anything else out there to do the job it can do and that I want done. I wish this company or a competitor would figure this out because I'd gladly pay double for a better unit that actually worked like a charm and lived up to the potential of what this product can do in fits and starts...

We actually use this "frother" to mix up our health shakes...and it works VERY well. Our health shakes are about 3 oz of powder and 8 oz of water...mixes in about 5 secs

I don't have an espresso/cappuccino machine so I needed something to froth my milk. I bought the aeropress espresso maker (which works great by the way) and needed something to froth the milk to make cappuccinos. I usually just use non-dairy french vanilla creamer and froth that. It works great for that and the froth lasts for quite a while. I made a cappuccino, drank about half of it, and then it sat for about an hour and it still had froth. Now I've also tried this with 2% or reduced fat milk and whole milk and it works well, but the froth doesn't last very long. Maybe thats just the nature of it. Since I've never had a cappuccino machine, I can't say for sure. But all in all, a good product.
