This little dude is amazing! It's especially good for college students, as it can be used not just for boiling water, but for cooking all manner of processed dehydrated foods -- which are the staple of a student's life. Pasta, mashed potatoes, freeze-dried chicken nuggets, you name it. I think this is the only non-disposable cookware I use.

Yep. This product is cheap AND good. I got one when I moved into college for making coffee and tea. Two years later, I'm still using it daily. It warms up water FAST and can be used as a regular pot in a pinch (hard-boiled eggs anyone?). Only bad part is no auto-shutoff. Still, I end up using it more than the much fancier water heater I got for my house-warming.

I have had one before and works very well. I have had problems with the plug and have changed it. Overall it is a convenient and quick way to heat water for tea.

I bought one of these & am well satisfied with it. So much more economical than buying pods! I get whole bean coffee & set my coffee grinder to the espresso setting & get a great tasting cup of coffee with lots of crema. Highly recommend the coffeeduck.

I was reluctant at first. I was not happy with the taste of automatic drip coffee. I had purchased a cheep espresso "Pump" machine, no good. And, I could not afford a real espresso machine. So I bought the Frieling Stainless Steel Thermal French Press. I must say it has been great. It is still in the same shape today as when we purchased it 4 years ago. The coffee tastes great! If you are getting grounds in your coffee, you are pushing the plunger down too fast. If coffee is coming out the spout, you have filled it too full. This is the only coffee we drink in our house. Guests frequently comment on the unique look. Highly recommended 4 years later.

I love, love, LOVE this french press. It makes wonderful coffee and keeps it hot for *hours*, PLUS it is virtually break-proof. I have literally dropped it straight onto the floor multiple times and it doesn't even have a dent. A scratch from me accidentally brushing it with a stainless steel scrubber in the sink yes, but a dent no. And after a year, it still has a nice luster/sheen to it. What a winner.
Before purchasing this Frieling press I thought I was finally at happy state, owning a 12-cup drip machine for lazy days when I just wanted a cup of joe, and two french presses - one a Bodum, the other generic, for when I wanted really good tasting coffee. But I forgot one thing: I am a klutz. The bodum carafe was broken and I found myself replacing it. Once. Twice. Thrice. A whole new press was bought, then broken - again. I switched to the machine and accidentally broke the crafe of that one, too. I realized that I was spending a fortune just to make a decent cup of coffee at home, and was getting injured in the process, also. Something had to be done.
Here the Frieling comes in. It is beautiful, solid/sturdy if not a bit heavy, and it makes a cup of coffee like a dream. I am a slow coffee drinker and like to savor each cup, which used to mean the coffee would get cold before I wanted more. Now there is no worry - I can have coffee three hours after I made it (not recommended for you purists) and it is still hot. Also, I've always been careful to stir the grounds when first putting water in over the coffee and right before plunging, but with this press, there is extra security in knowing that the gas will not explode the container. Whoever posted the pic above with the note about the steel mesh is right - it has a smooth folded over edge, which makes it so easy to plunge and to clean. The quality of this press I have not seen anywhere else. It's so easy to clean that I got rid of my machine - why bother with something less than perfection? Now, I get a quality brew with no need to reheat (a definite no-no anyway) hours later, in an unbreakable container. This press is saving me a fortune. I cannot tell you how much I love this french press.

I absolutely love this product. From the very first pot we have had great coffee. No problems with grinding or brewing, and I have no problem cleaning the parts after each use. I did it with my regular coffee brewer and separate grinder so it isn't anymore work. I highly recommend this product to anyone who loves coffee!

I was thrilled with our Cuisinart DGB-600BC stainless steel, thermal grind and brew when we took it out of the box on June 18th of this year. The coffee tasted great, loved using my own beans, and as many have said, the thermal carafe is slow pouring, but no more over-cooked coffee. Yaaay! I can even live with the jet-engine take off when grinding.
But now, here I sit, with a lesser cup, made in our old, steady GE coffee burner retrieved from our give-away heap, and two coffee machines on the counter, and it is September 25 -- a mere 3 months since starting to use the Cuisinart. It simply won't brew and shuts off before I even check to see if there is coffee ready. We haven't ground any in months, due to the time required to make sure the bean hopper is nice and dry (it won't brew without it installed, and then gets steamy creating ground mush that won't flow to the basket.)So even functioning as a regular pre-ground machine, it has problems. We have removed the water filter, detailed the interior like a used Porsche, run CLR through it --- no coffee. Apparently, the problem is more serious and beyond our capabilities to fix it. It was a gift, so no return option, even if Cuisinart had a reputation for good service, which they don't.
So, in the end, if you are looking for an over-priced, disposable coffee maker -- this is it. If you expect performance over a few years, as we do -- buy something else.

I usually need to replace my filter around every two years, and it would probably last longer if I wasn't such a klutz washing it. Not bad for daily use!

I bought this to use with our new Krups KM7000 Grind-and-Brew 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Black
The filter works as well as any other gold toned filter, they all leave a residue and it is much better then using wasteful paper filters. They last forever, and in my case, longer then the coffee pot!

This filter is useless. I am extremely happy with the Krups KM7000 coffee maker now that I figured out what the culprit was (this filter). The filter does a terrible job of filtering out what I will call "coffee-mud". I was always getting a thick residue in the bottom of the pot and unless I made extra and carefully poured, I'd end up with this gunk in my cup. I still use the filter, but I use it with a traditional paper filter. Not sure if there is a need for this filter at all since I'm using a paper filter, but I like to think I'm getting some use for my $10.

Why use a permanent filter? For one thing you won't experience that painful moment of truth when you realize you have to face the day without a java fix because you forgot to put paper filters on your grocery list. For another stainless steel filters extract the most flavor from your coffee. They are environmentally friendly and they save you money in the long run. There now, all that should have you convinced!

I like my Kona coffee fresh tasting and chemical filled tap water can ruin that.
These little filters do a great job of improving the taste of regular tap water.
Sure, they are pricey, but I've found I can go for a few months using just one rather than change it out every month as Mr. Coffee recommends. There are alternatives to them as well, like using pref-iltered water or bottled water, but costs doing it that way can add up as well.
Overall, a decent product if you can stomach the price.
BTW, as of writing this, the 2-packs are actually cheaper to purchase than the 6pk (going by unit cost). But for some reason the shipping is a $1 more for the 2-pack! Solution: Buy 3 2-pack refills in one order and you save yourself about $2 over the cost of buying just the one 6-pack.

I am happy with the product and price given the inability to purchase the disks locally. Shipping took a few days longer than I'd hoped but wasn't horrible. I do notice the difference in my coffee and appreciate no using the water from my britta.

I purchased this at Bed & Bath over a year ago for my office. It has been BEAT UP by myself and colleagues, making some days 3 pots of coffee a day. The dispenser the brew time all of it are great!
I wish I could shut off the auto-off feature, but I appreciate the safety mindedness of having it in place. THis is a well-built unit that has certainly been worth the money and has served me well.

This unit made great coffee...for not quite 6 months. Called Hamilton Beach warranty department - to get a replacement you must do the following: Write a snail-mail letter describing the problem, cut off the end of the cord and mail along with a check for $9.95 to their service center. Some warranty...I'm not impressed.

I'm very happy to see this item on Amazon because I find it impossible to locate it at my local stores. Note that this filter only fits the Tassimo machine that allows for a filter (the TA1400 with a 68-oz. water tank). It does not fit the TA1200 with a 50oz water tank (which does not come with a water filter). If your machine originally came with a filter it is the TA1400 and this is the replacement water filter for it. The filter does a good job and allows me to quickly fill the tank with tap water as opposed to using water from my kitchen filter which comes out slowly and takes much longer to fill the tank.
