I bought this more than one years ago at a closing sales of a grocery store. It was $9.00 there because they wanted to get rid of all of their products. Well, I bought it because it was from a good brand, and because my former coffee maker (Mr. Coffee) was broken. After I used this product, I will never buy Black & Decker products. I like my Black & Decker drill. But it seems like Black & Deker's kitchen products are not good. This coffee maker doesn't have a turn-off timer. It's just dangerous. The mechanism of dripping is pretty simple, there is just one hole without any stopping feature. This means that you can't drink coffee until it finish dripping completely. Even after it finished dripping, if you remove a jar from it, some coffee drops on the heating plate, which damages the surface of the heating plate. The plastic material of this coffee maker is not rigid. The hinge of the lid of the jar is easy to get deformation. Actually, the lid doesn't have any function, and I threw it away.
I had several coffee makers, but this is the worst one. I learned I shouldn't buy cheap and bad things.

You want to make just expresso, well this does a great creme for under $300 but the froth wand, well I have broken two, and Krups replaced the machine ( the steam was shooting up in the air not down in the milk burnt my hand). Now second machine the steam wand broke a clip, called customer service they told me that users "break" the steam wand (thanks for blaming the customer for a bad design) 2 weeks later another replacement steam wand. The claws loosen and the entire wand blows into the milk exploding milk everywhere! not good before a round of golf. I have to hold the wand with a rubber glove now to froth milk. Worth spending double to get a better machine with a metal steam wand.
If you don't care for milk then this will work great, for the rest of us....buy a Saeco! The one star is for the rest of the machine. If I was rating for the Krups customer service, I would be rating it negative stars if it was possible.

Although I am not a big fan of Black and Decker products, I found this Beverage Frother to be quite good and well made. The device is small enough that you can use it in just about any size drinking cup of your choice but the motor is strong enough to handle almost any drinking size glass. The handle got a good non-slip grip on it while it is not water resistance, as long as you don't soak it, it should perform well. It is perfect for mixing powder and liquid of almost any kind. This works well for mixing powder medication with liquid as well. Run on two AA batteries with an excellent life, I have been using this device for over a year and it has yet to break down.

On the down side, you can't adjust the speed, only the duration of the mixing and that depends on your own sense of timing to get it right. The on and off button is on the butt end of the handle. If you slightly press on it, it will run as long as there is that pressure. Harder press will turn it on and requires you to press again to turn it off. So if you hold it like a joy stick with your thumb on the button, the control is actually quite good. I used this quite often to mixed my Nestle Quik with milk and got the spin control down to a perfect science. Just make sure that you turn off the device prior to taking it out of the liquid. Otherwise, you will get spatter by the rotating spinner.

Excellent device and quite reliable, this come highly recommended. You can probably buy it cheaper at your local stores then at Amazon (in Anchorage's Fred Meyer stores, the regular price of this device is around $12.00 although right now, its selling for S9.00..I brought three more just to last me for the rest of the century).

Third one I have owned just died, and like the other times I had not kept a receipt and they said it was manufactured more than 3 years ago so it was out of warranty. None were more than a year old. I love the coffee maker but not at $100/year. Buy two, keep the receipts and plan on dealing with LONG replacement times under warranty. Look around at reviews, this product is notoriously unreliable.

We have had two of these coffeemakers and loved them both, but they both just died. Worked one day and quit the next. The company was very good about replacing the first one, however the second one (which was new when they sent it) they wouldn't replace as the warranty on the first one had expired. Didn't make much sense to me.

It is really the worst coffee maker I had. It is too slow, the automatic stopper always breakes and the coffee pot is useless, because you can not pour in a cup without making a mess

I've read the other reviews and can only say:

1) If you lift the lid while using the carafe to fill the reservior, you won't spill any water on the counter.

2) If you slide the carafe out of the machine slightly and wait a few seconds for the "brew pause" valve to
close and drip a few times, you won't drip coffee onto the hotplate surface.

3) If you pour slowly you won't spill coffee all over the countertop.

4) If you use paper melita filters in the basket, you will not only stop fine grinds from clogging the filter
and causing a backup, but you'll improve the taste.

5) It has no automatic shutoff because it is meant to keep the coffee hot after brewing. The hotplate has a
thermal switch that cycles on and off to keep the coffee hot but not burn it. This is what makes a click every
few minutes after brewing is completed. There is also a thermal safety fuse that would blow if the element ever
really overheated. Nothing intrinsically unsafe about this design.

My wife uses our every day and has had no problems with it.

I absolutely LOVE this machine! After reading some of the negative reviews I was a little leary on buying this machine, but now I'm glad I did! I have found that you wont have any problems if you keep your machine clean as per the instructions. The Espressione Cafe Retro Espresso Machine is fast to heat up, all espresso machines are noisy, but this one is quieter than most and holds a decent amount of water. The steamer/frother wand could be a little longer but overall it works well and as long as you clean it properly will not let you down, it works very well and doesn't scald your milk.
I highly reccommend this nice looking machine for everyday use, you will not be disappointed.

I purchased this Black and Decker coffeemaker after my last two Braun thermals died. They were good coffeemakers that each lasted about three years (before leaking from the bottom) and are now outdated models. I searched prices for stainless steel thermal coffeemakers, coming up with several very high-priced models with only "okay" reviews. When I saw the pricing and the comments about the Black and Decker TCM830, I thought it would be a good one.

I was right! It makes great coffee that stays HOT for several hours. I have rinsed out the pot in the evening before bedtime and have found the morning coffee inside still very warm. The cap really keeps in the heat not only after brewing, but during the brew process as well. My previous coffeemakers let a lot of steam out during the brewing process; but the Black and Decker TCM830 keeps it tightly inside. My wood cabinets appreciate that as well as my tastebuds!

While the reservoir is removable to fill at the sink, a convenient feature, I leave it on and fill at the flap opening. The pot doesn't drip after pouring either. It's a perfect size for under cabinets and doesn't hog counter space. Oh, and it looks nice with my stainless steel appliances!

I would recommend this coffeemaker to anyone. It makes good, hot coffee, it's attractive, and it's well priced.
