Not a bad coffee machine 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The machine does exactly what it's intended to do, I use it regularily to steam milk for chai tea lattes as well as the entire espresso side for cappucino and lattes. The stopper on the coffee basket to allow you to remove the pot before it finishes dripping is a bit drippy, but nothing a quick swipe w/ a wet rag won't solve. I paid $50 for it at WalMart (FAR cheaper than on Amazon) and I'm pleased with my machine, definitely worth the price I paid. And I have NO problem removing the old coffee grounds from the machine without removing the whole basket (actually, I don't think I've ever even bothered removing the basket) - I guess the other reviewer that complained about it was a midget ;)

Great for the cheapskate 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

It takes forever to brew regular coffee, and its 99% plastic. Add onto that the spring loaded thing to stop drips while pouring mid brew doesnt work. But the espresso part works great, super fast (unlike the 2+ min it said it needed in the manual). I paid $19 at Christmas Tree shop, so in all honesty, thats why it got 4 stars. If I paid Amazon price of $90 it'd get 1 star

Editorial Review:

Makes 4 cups of Espresso/Cappuccino and 10 cups of coffee. Espresso has 10 minute auto shut-off. Coffemaker has 2 hour shutoff and a Pause 'n Serve feature. Swing out filter basket and steam nozzle to froth milk.

Disappointing construction 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I read several positive reviews about the Rancilio Silvia and almost two years ago I finally bought a brand new one (from another vendor). The machine makes good coffee, however, after 18 months I noticed creases in the metal around the lip of the head assembly. More creases and bubbles appeared, and then the metal foil separated. I have never used any chemicals to clean the machine, only a wet cloth. Now the machine is an eyesore, and Rancilio Silvia doesn't consider the problem as covered by their warranty. I am very disappointed, and will not buy another Rancilio product again. Maybe the machine I received was defective, in which case I think that Rancilio should have agreed to repair it.

Always toss out the 1st shot~ 5 out of 5 stars.

I used to screw up making espresso on this thing all the time, then I finally listened to my husband. The crema is there, the flavor is there, the froth is there- It just requires certain steps. This machine makes it really easy- and there is no risk of severely burning yourself like I did with a cheapy plastic machine. (krups) The Krups would keep residual steam in the grounds compartment, so if I wanted to try making another espresso, I would turn the handle and get burned with hot steamy water.

1) turn it on for at least 20min before you want to pull a shot, make sure the water is fresh
2) Buy only Lavazza whole beans
3) Buy a burr grinder with grind size options
4) Grind beans fine
5) Press really hard to compress your coffee puck, keep pressing as hard as you can for at least 2 minutes.
6) Get a glass ready to catch some water- you will steam it first to get the machine's bowels going.
7) Steam some water out, keep it in your glass to warm it up.
8) start the espresso pull, pull out 2 oz. then save or toss this out, don't drink this.
9) dump out the grounds and fill it up, compacting like last time.
10) Pull the2nd espresso, this should be your keeper, put in pre-warmed glass.
11) Check the color and make sure it's opaque and creamy. It should resemble a Guinness.
12) Clean it out soon after, do water changes, use the right coffee machine cleaner.

For the right froth, you must keep your metal frothing pitcher in the fridge or freezer and have cold milk.
It work great and anyone can get it right- you just need to make the right compression on the coffee.

A FANTASTIC COFFEE MAKER 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

We have had our coffee maker for about 4 years and it has worked perfectly all of this time. It was inexpensive and makes wonderful fresh brewed coffee from beans or pre ground. It turns itself on and shuts itself off. Easy to clean by putting parts in the dishwasher. No worries.
The only thing is that it's a little tall for under the counter.
We have been delighted with it and are about to buy another one.

I think this is the best.... 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The Cuisinart Grind and Brew....Contrary, to the lame reviews that the 1 and 2 star people have given to this coffee maker, I have found this maker to brew the best and Hottest cup of coffee I have ever had out of a home coffee maker. Yes, great taste, that we couldn't get out of our past Mr. Coffee's. Yes, you have to clean it and there are a few hidden spots that you have to find at first. BIG friggin deal!! After cleaning it a couple times, it takes 2 minutes max to get the job done and ready for the next cup of coffee. There has never been an issue with cleaning the coffee filter area as others seem to have had a problem with. The thing just works GREAT!! We're using it in a work environment. This means that it's used at least 3 or 4 times a day. While there are people at my office that look at it and look like confused Scooby Doo's, these are the same as the 1 or 2 star people....They just give up if they have to do anything out of the ordinary in life.

So, don't be afraid to buy this great Cuisinart Coffee Maker! You won't be disappointed...It's so consistent from use to use as well. GO FOR IT!

Editorial Review:

You would expect nothing less than a fabulous cup of coffee from this trend-setting machine. From its Italian styling to its roster of desirable features, Cuisinart has designed a winner. The freshest and most flavorful coffee possible is assured by its charcoal water filtration system, its programmable operation, and its bean-grinding mechanism.

I brought this product and it died after a week. Delonghi has the worlds worse customer service! They have this i don't care attitude and they would not replace it. I had to drive 45 mins to a service center and than they took a month to fix it! Got it back work for 3 weeks and broke again! I guess i have to wait another month to get it fixed. DOn't buy from this company they don't stand behind their products.

really messy/ leaks 1 out of 5 stars.

Defective and returned 1 out of 5 stars.
4 of 8 people found this review helpful.

The packaging from the manufacturer was inadequate to protect the product and it arrived broken. When returned, Amazon had no others in stock for replacement. So, we ordered a Virtuoso by Baratza -- it is FAR superior to the La Pavoni because it has all the same features but is sturdy yet sleek in design, quiet when operating, and has virtually NO coffee dust when grinding. We are thrilled the La Pavoni was broken and we were forced to look elsewhere. Save yourself problems and mess, get the Virtuoso.

Editorial Review:

The La Pavoni Tre Spade burr grinder in chrome complements La Pavoni lever machines beautifully. The front hopper can hold 1/4lb, and includes 9 grind settings. Coffee can be grinded directly into your coffee handle or into the removable hopper. This unit also has tempered steel burr grinders, and an automatic shut off. One year warranty.

Doesn't steam Milk 1 out of 5 stars.
8 of 14 people found this review helpful.

DO NOT BUY THE C9. Before you buy the C9, know that it can only steam milk for Latte's to 120 degrees. The minimum temperature required is 150 degrees. I was the one that discivered this product defeciency, so before you spend $1,799, call Jura and ask them how hot the C9 will steam milk

Good But Disappointed also 3 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

we've had an S9 Jura for over 7 years and made over 6,000 coffees with it. It was a trooper and fantastic but sadly died on us so we wanted a replacement. I checked the specs for the S9 and C9 and seemed they were pretty much the same so for the price difference it felt living with a black and slimmer model with slightly less horsepower was a sensible trade-off.

The good;

1. Quiet
2. Small
3. Makes a nice cup of coffee (if administered well)
4. Button layout and customization is way easier than the old S9

The Bad

1. Black is not as attractive as the silver and also shows marks easier
2. Water filters are different sizes to the S9 (had a stock so that's a little annoying)
3. All the essentials feel twice as small as the S9 and a pain.. the milk container cannot even support two Lattes, the water container is too small and the coffee store is also.
4. The One-Touch button makes for a warm and hot coffee so is also a pointless feature IMO.
5. Fixed steam spout so with large cups it will be a pain to remove them without spilling

When we made a coffee with the S9 and new with the C9 we put the coffee in first, fill the milk and 3/4 up we switch to steam and give it a blast for the heat. This on either machine makes a fabulous coffee but negates the value of the one-touch.

If I were doing this again, I'd go for either a cheaper model knowing the one-touch is pointless and if budget is the concern OR I'd sucked it in and gone for the S9 for the added capacity.. For me I wish I'd chosen the S9 as the capacity thing will probably grind on me more than anything else.. but the above will give you an idea of variances.

All this said, I LOVE Jura, for the years we've had them, they're reliable, provide great service and well worth the investment. I'll begrudgingly live with the C9 knowing I made the wrong choice,.. Hope this helps your decision process..

Not worth the money 1 out of 5 stars.
6 of 12 people found this review helpful.

I'm not sure who actually manufactures this machine but it was originally sold in Target stores under the Mr. Coffee brand name for about 50 dollars. At some point they decided to cover the black plastic with a stainless steel skin, change the brand name and quadruple the price. I checked out the Breville version and can say without a doubt that it is the same machine. I owned the Target version and only used it occasionally. I had it for less than a year when the gasket blew out spewing hot water everywhere including on me.

Bad quality 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 9 people found this review helpful.

This machine lasted 3 weeks before the pump burned out because I ran it without enough water. The water level window might as well not be there because you can't see the water level at all since it's surrounded by grey. There's no back up to the pump, so I've lost all my money. There is one line in the instruction book which says to check the water before running it, but it doesn't say the machine will self-destruct if you don't.

Editorial Review:

The machine comes with a stainless steel warming tray and a porcelain espresso cup and saucer set to start your own cafe out of the box. Very Happy With It 5 out of 5 stars.
32 of 34 people found this review helpful.

I almost always look at Amazon reviews before I buy anything these days. Shopping for an espresso maker with this method was extremely frustrating because the reviews for most machines are all over the map. The same machine will be loved by some, hated by others. This seems to be because people are looking for different things. The would-be barristas (why would anyone dream of working at Starbucks?) want all the bells and whistle and others just want the basics. For me, this machine does a pretty good job of covering both worlds. I have had it about a month and use it many times each day and have had no problems. I mostly use it for espresso using freshly ground beans and it works well for that. I have also used it with pods a couple of times and that seems to work well also. I think the Cappucinator attachment is pretty cool. Basically, you pour some cold milk in a cup, stick a little plastic hose from the Nina's Cappucinator attachment in to the cup, place another cup under the Cappucinator and turn it on and out comes steamed milk with froth. I get a nice froth with 2%, not so much with skim. One other reviewer notes that you need to prime the pump for making espresso after each of the steam wand and/or cappucinator. This is true but it is a simple and quick process and doesn't bother me. Overall, I'm very happy with this machine.

Editorial Review:

Saeco takes a fresh twist on a traditional espresso machine. With its new shape and sophisticated yet easy to use controls the Nina Bar let’s anyone open an espresso bar in their home. The Nina Bar includes a removable 50 oz water tank as well as a removable drip tray for easy cleaning. The pressurized portafilter along with the Pannarello and bonus Cappuccinatore allowing for perfect espresso shots and great froth every time. The pre-programmed buttons for a single or a double shot take the guess work out of getting the right extraction and the easy-to-use control panel shows you when the machine is “ready to brew” and “ready to steam”. Weighing just 9 pounds and using 120V/1050 Watts for power. The Nina Bar is 11 inches wide, 12 inches deep and 15.25 inches tall.
