This coffeemaker has so much potential, but makes rather watery coffee. It looks better than most coffeemakers out there and has fewer bells and whistles that tend to break with use anyway, and after reading the reviews I thought it would be good for my purposes- but not so. The plastic is made of inferior quality compared to my old Salton and I'm just hoping that I won't have to repurchase next year, but I've seen this kind of flimsy plastic in other products that break too easily or don't hold up to higher temperatures. When the coffee is brewing dribbles appear at the bottom joint where the swing basket sits and they drip down the side. This has never happened before in all the years I've been making coffee. To top it off, the coffee is really weak and I'm not a strong coffee freak but I have to use twice as much coffee as I used to to get the same strength brew. I had higher hopes for this one- too bad.

convenient and reliable little coffeemaker 5 out of 5 stars.

We've had this coffeemaker for about 10 years and use it daily (more than once, often several times) and it is still going strong! It's great for having fresh coffee at any time. My husband will not drink coffee that's been sitting around on a hotplate, and since we drink different types of coffee, this machine is great because we just make it separately. We do have a smaller one-cup coffeemaker, but since we use travel mugs a lot we prefer this one. Our regular coffeemaker gets used only when we have company.

I was surprised by all the negative reviews as our on-off button has never been a problem, we've brewed coffee into all kinds of mugs and cups without difficulty, and it always comes out tasting good. However, I can't comment on the uneven distribution of coffee between two cups since we tend to make one at a time. If that happened you'd have to be there during brewing and remove the cup that filled first and push the other to the center, which would be inconvenient.

For our purposes, this coffeemaker is great.

Beware. Made in China. 1 out of 5 stars.

We bought this coffee press expecting that it was made in France. Upon receipt we found that it is made in China. The pot portion looks fair but the lid is of very low quality and it does not seal well. I would not recommend this to anyone. Chinese made products are not safe and often contain toxic materials. We will return it and look for a non Chinese made product to replace it. Buyer beware.

A definite MUST-HAVE if you are into coffee. I am a certified barista and this will give you a great cup of coffee as compared to most commercially-prepared coffees sold by the coffee-shop chains especially if the barista in question doesn't know what they are doing which is quite often.

Better to make the investment in something like this as opposed to the glass coffee-press although this will not KEEP the coffee HOT indefinitely as per other reviewers.

Of course the glass beaker will break if you drop it or hit it with something, but after having owned it for only a month, my beaker cracked while I was pouring hot water into it, when I wasn't even touching it.

The beaker of a french press that cracks from having hot water poured into it is problematic.

I'm buying a new french press, but it certainly won't be a Bodum.

Black & Decker ODC440B Spacemaker Coffeemaker, Black

I gave the B&D ODC440B one star because that is the minimum rating. I never got to brew coffee. The first two runs to clean the brewer leaked or overflowed water all over the counter top, then shorted out the unit.

I was on here to get this for a gift since i really like mine. it only provides enough room underneath to feel like i have more counter space and less stuff to move when i wipe my counters. I guess i'll look for a coffee maker with better reviews for my gift.

i did notice on ours that it only brews 10 out of the 12 cups of water. i always use filtered water and we run coffee cleaner cycles. we got this only about 2-3 months ago.

the main problem i have is how steam just bursts out around the top, getting the cabinet it's mounted to all wet. this worries hubby and i. i would like to make this coffee maker work. it is so convienient...right by the sink...easy to take out the resorvoir and fill it. easy to clean it. i was thinking of creating new holes to let steam escape out the right side (when facing it) which is towards my sink. i don't want to poke anything important. has anyone tried this? it's too expensive to screw up. thanks if you can help! and good luck if you decide to buy one of these...save your reciept and box:)
