not for tea 1 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

the 5-stars are not tea drinkers. a real cup of tea from loose leafs should steep anywhere from 3-5 minutes. meaning the leaves have to be immersed in water that has been BOILED for this time. this machine does what a coffeemaker does. it heats water to HOT, about 30 degrees under what it should be for tea. it then drips the water over the tea and immediately into the cup. not enough time for the "steeping" process. if you just want to drink tea to replace coffee and have no knowledge of what tea should taste like beyond the cheap, bottom-of-the-barrel stuff you get at the gas station in the morning, get a coffee pot. it does the same thing.

if you are a real tea drinker, move along. or save your receipt.

Great Tea Maker 5 out of 5 stars.

If you like Hot Tea, this is a great buy. It comes with its own infuser/strainer so it works with loose tea as well as tea bags. You have variable settings so you can adjust the strength of the tea it makes. I not only use it for flavored teas but also for making an herbal tea at bedtime. And, if you just want to make just one or two cups of cocoa or spiced cider, you can use it to heat the water and keep it hot.
Nothing like it for making tea though. Great gift for the tea lover.

Love this percolator 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

We already had one and wanted another for when we need to make more coffee. Makes the best coffee. Better than drip cofffemakers. Use it at home, outside, on the boat. Never had a problem. We do use paper filters. Also, nothing to break and replacement parts are available if anything gets damaged. Was tired of always replacing carafes on drip coffeemakers. Doubt if we will ever go back to drip.

Cuisinart PRC-12 12-cup Stainless Steal Perculator 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is my second Cuisinart perculator and I love it. It perks wonderful coffee that simple taste great every time. If you never tried a perculator give this one a try and you'll never go back to a drip machine.

Cuisinart PRC-12 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The Cuisinart PRC-12 makes great coffee very quickly, and it is wonderfully convenient to simply remove the cord and serve the coffee. The pouring spout works especially well. The only problem that we have had is that coffee grounds tend to escape the filter/holder and get into the coffee. While that may be an issue of having coffee that is too finely ground it is hard to find coffee ground specifically for percolators, so it would be helpful for Cuisinart to design a more effective filter unit.

Not flawless, but works fine 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Buying a coffee maker is not straightforward. I read a ton of reviews of many different models when our older coffee maker (a now-discontinued Starbucks Barista model) finally died. I did not see a single coffee maker that had uniformly positive reviews, and I also didn't find one that had every feature we were looking for. We decided to give this one a shot; all of the negative reviews made us pretty skeptical, but so far it has been working well for us.

We were looking for a coffee maker that (in no particular order) A) used a thermal carafe instead of a hot plate, B) had a removeable reservoir for convenient filling, C) made good coffee, D) wasn't extremely expensive, E) was a solid, well made device with positive customer reviews.

How does this coffee maker rate on those criteria?
A) Thermal carafe: check.

B) Removable reservoir: missing. We have to bring a pitcher over and fill the reservoir. This is inconvenient, and we, like others, have encountered the issue where we can get air bubbles in the fill-level indicator. I can usually tap these out during the next fill cycle, but it's annoying. This has happened 3 times in the 2 months we've had it. To be fair, almost no other model of coffee maker we looked at in this price range had a removable reservoir, either.

C) Makes good coffee: check. We had read a comparison review in Cook's Illustrated that indicated that this coffee maker was one of the better ones they tested in terms of coffee quality. That prompted us to look at this model more closely, and we've been happy with the coffee it produces, even when brewing only half a pot.

D) Not extremely expensive: not too bad. This is subjective, of course. It's a good bit more expensive than the $20 Mr. Coffee, but less than many others. We would have liked to spend a bit less, but weren't horrified.

E) Solid build: mixed. As I indicated, we've seen a couple of the problems others have mentioned, but nothing major. We haven't had any leaks, for example.

(One other issue: the "Cycle Completed" beep is the most annoying beep of any device we own. Holy moly, is it awful. Fortunately, you can turn it off; save your users manual.)

So, over all, after a couple of months of daily use, I'd say we have been fairly pleased with it. It's not flawless, but it hasn't caused us any major problems. I hope by the time we're buying another one that there will be models out that have uniformly positive reviews, but in the meantime, we're happy with this one.

Liked the original version better 3 out of 5 stars.

I ordered this item because the one pictured by Amazon showed the older model. It has more space for a taller mug. Drill Spot accepted the return promptly and courteously. Wish I could find the old model!

Quick & easy 4 out of 5 stars.

Love my new Hot Shot. I've had one for the last 10 years. So when my old one got a little rickety, I bought another. I like the sleek new look, and it works just as well as the old model. Only thing I question is the start button at the top of the unit, which you have to push hard to turn on. It just feels a little cheesy. I'll let you know how long it lasts.

Great product 5 out of 5 stars.

Great product. Have used one for YEARS. Great for office. I couldn't face mornings without this machine in my kitchen. Faster than a microwave. I hope they always keep this product on the market.

makes good coffee, but takes 2 hours 4 out of 5 stars.

Just as I said in the title, this thing does what it is supposed to do,, except really slow. Not a problem if you plan for it. Use course ground coffee, fill the bucket with water, turn it on - and wait for 2hrs. Then you have 42 cups of jo that stays hot for a long time.

Great item -- highly recommended 5 out of 5 stars.

Weak coffee 2 out of 5 stars.

I have owned other pod brewers (Senso and Melita) and this makes the weakest coffee of any. It is small and tidy but not very effective. I am now using 2 pods to get coffee of decent strength.

coffee 5 out of 5 stars.

I recently stayed in a hotel and they had this coffee pot. I used it and loved it. I bought it to take to work, but decided to leave at home instead and may order another for work.

PERFECT 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Fast and perfect. Excellent product, especially for the price. I've searched for 6 months for a single-cup coffee maker and this was absolutely the right choice. Quick, easy, and wonderful. This company also sends you 50 pods of coffee. What a bargain! Will definetly tell all my friends.

Nice and compact unit but makes weak coffee! 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I agree with Nancy Lind's review that the coffee that comes out of this little maker is very weak. If you like the flavor of a strong cup of coffee this isn't the unit for you. What I do like about it is its small size. I bought it for my desk at work and it fits perfectly and it's really easy to use. The instructions say not to use more than one pod at a time but I think I may have to. I'm just a little bit disappointed.

We got two of these machines about 2 years ago. The first one lastest about a year and the second is now taking forever to make 6-8 cups of coffee. Definitely not up to Cuisinart reputation for other appliances.

Excellent Maker! Great Coffee... 5 out of 5 stars.

As coffee makers go this one has a few extras that make it stand out. First off, is the charcoal filter water purifier that is built in. Takes all the impurities out of the water and leaves you with a very tasty cup of coffee. It's water delivery system is a shower type instead of a drip so it distributes the water over all of the grounds. This makes sure you use all the grounds for a robust cup of coffee every time. It's fast, only takes about 5 min for a 12 cup pot of coffee and has an audible beep that tells you when the coffee is done. I was very pleased with my choice in coffee makers and I would recommend the Cuisinart DCC1000 Programmable Filter Brew 12-Cup Coffeemaker to anyone looking for a great coffeemaker.
