On my second one cause the coffee taste great and is just the right temp. Same part broke on both of them and we can't just replace that part. Pay $60+ for a good product and you have to replace it too soon. Time to find a different manufacterer.

This coffeemaker has been in service for less than two months, and we are about to replace it...I am on Amazon looking for units with good reviews. This one is full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. It burbles loudly for hours (literally) by the time it finishes heating the reservoir of water, and wastes so much in steam that only about half of the water actually makes it through. Perhaps for this reason, the reservoir lid has warped. Also, the pause and serve feature dribbles on the warming plate...a safety issue? Certainly a mess. I have cleaned it twice, using white vinegar according to directions, but it actually seemed to get worse each time. We had bought it several months before putting it into service, so it's probably not returnable. At least it was cheap... I was surprised to see that a nearly identical unit, with a slightly different model number, received good reviews. One nice thing about it: the carafe doesn't spill coffee all over when you pour!

overflow is a problem on the 10cup version 1 out of 5 stars.

We are going to give up on this one and buy a new coffee pot.

This one works well except for the catastrophic overflow problem. You MUST get the basket inserted so that everything clicks. Also you can get overflow if you don't get the top screwed back on just right. You must check that by carefully sighting at carafe level. The top screws on quite nicely in the incorrect way, it is much more difficult to get it right.

You need a couple of cups of coffee before you are awake enough to use this coffeemaker.

I abhor bad design, especially when the flaws lead to nonrobustness in normal use. This product is badly designed.

This coffee pot worked well for about a month. Then it started taking over 30 minutes to brew, then it wouldn't work at all. Tried cleaning it per the instructions with vinegar, but it didn't help. Will never buy a reconditioned item again.

We have the 10-cup from Cuisinart, given to us as a gift and are purchasing the 12-cup soon because we've had such a great experience with our 10-cup. I must preface this review that if anyone is qualified enough to review coffee makers, it's my husband.

He loves coffee. Loves. With a capital L. His source of life is probably dripping out of that coffee maker right now. We're upgrading to a 12-cup because that's the least amount he needs (and he goes through *several* 12-cup batches a day). This is no exaggeration!

Anyway, we've gone through many coffee makers, especially carafes. Many carafes don't have the right pouring spout, so he goes in search of another one that doesn't drip down the side if you don't pour it *just* right. (He's figured out that it has to be a wide lip, not a slim one, just incase anyone cares.) Geez, we've stood in an aisle staring at coffee makers for an hour and a half, comparing this feature with that and this spout with that. It was insane.

Another issue was keeping his coffee hot. If he goes through 2 or 3 pots of 12-cups, well, the coffee needs to last at least a few hours. It needs to stay hot and fresh tasting, not burnt.

Cuisinart's carafe takes the cake. It keeps the coffee hotter than any other carafe we've used (and we even bought a separate one to POUR coffee from a glass carafe in). You can leave it for not just a few hours, but the entire day! The spout pours slowly, but that's so the coffee doesn't cool down (duh). Plus, it doesn't drip down the side.

(We've never had an overflow problem with the 10-cup, and we hope that doesn't happen once we have the 12-cup.)

I wanted an all metal coffee maker, not one with plastic in all the areas that contact the water. I really feel it is unfair advertising to have this allowed to call itself all metal.
I am concerned, as many others, with heated water contacting plastic surfaces as heat causes leaching of many chemicals.
I replaced a Cuisinart which is much quieter. This pot is very noisy.The Cuisinart chimes when it is finished brewing. On this, when the noise finally stops, it is done. It is awkward to fill. I did not keep the box or I would have returned it.
It is nice looking,especially in the blue.

We ordered this coffee pot Dec 3rd, to be told by Today's concepts that they have to go through the manufacturer Hamilton Beach to get it. Well, Hamilton Beach already told me that it is discontinued. The problem is that Today's Concepts, Amazon and Foto Connection are advertising that they have this product in Apple color, but once you order it, you'll find out they don't. They are all going through Hamilton Beach who doesn't make it any more. It's a waste of time. Just and FYI for you all.

We were given this coffee maker as a gift, and it made great coffee. We didn't need all the settings - all we use is brew, delay brew, and clean. The problem - it doesn't last. A good coffee maker should last for at least 5 years, this lasted slightly over a year.

Time to head to the store and purchase another coffee maker - as soon as I finish my soda.

I was a bit worried buying the DCM485 after reading so many poor reviews but now think the reviews are poor not the coffee maker. I have not had mine for more than a month but using it twice a day, I have not seen any issues as pouring the carafe or having overflow shutoff valve problems.

The top of the carafe has two setting positions marked with arrows, one for brew mode (closed down)and the second for puring mode(open spout). There is even a detent when turning the top lets you feel the brewing position has been achieved. The overflowing problem others mention is a bit strange as the carafe sets down in a lower area sort of a base detent so one only needs to align the carafe strait centered handle out which opens the fill valve without fail on my maker. Seems very logical and a smart design.

Also setting the functions is not obvious but after seeing the clock time(defaults to time of day set)come up after a few minutes lets one know the other clock is the auto time clock for brewing. Left button is to make coffee now or if flashing indicates it is in the auto mode so one just presses again it toggles back to brew now mode(light on solid) and will start to make coffee which has an active indicator you hear it start to perk too, just take your pick which mode you want.

Bottom line is it makes great coffee and I would give it five stars if there was a keep warm plate under the carafe but most of the time coffee is gone before it gets cool in my home. Oh, it is a bit large as maybe Robbie the robot's child. Would be nice when done if in some manner it could say "Coffee's On".

this coffeemaker was to replace one I had and loved, which has a little tab on the lid to make the "connections" so it brews the coffee. It was eagerly awaited (going to Dunkin Donuts was another layer of time in the morning! at the holidays! with snow!) and arrived earlier than promised by Amazon.
I unwrapped it, put the washable parts aside, and set it up...and the lid would not close. almost cried. went to Amazon.com for return protocols and wrapped it up the next morning (too upset that night!) and went to Macy's and checked the lid latch before bringing it to the register (this, the DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS, AT THE MALL, IN AN ICE STORM! how bad did I miss my coffeemaker???)
so, I do love this coffeemaker, as the one I got at Macy's was the same model (just was a bit less $ and mall avoiding at Amazon)
sorry Amazon! better Quality Control from wherever this came from would have been good. I don't blame Amazon...Cuisinart should probably make this important part a bit sturdier.

First, it is very difficult to see the water in the little gauge that shows the amount poured in. So, it is quite easy to over-pour the water into the machine. Also, as it brews, it seems to get coffee and/or remnants of grounds everywhere on the machine--even in the cavity for the water. It is a very messy and not very sturdy machine.
I do not recommend it.

The plastic is cheap but 2 things I really like: it has a longer cord (3 feet) than my old coffeemaker, and it makes good coffee. I don't expect it to last long but I didn't spend much so I can live with that trade-off. I had a supply of cone shaped filters and this takes cupcake style... As I said, I don't expect it to last long.

I purchased this coffee maker from Target to replace my Cuisinart that died. It is a nice looking coffee maker and the functions are very well laid out and easy to use. I really like this coffee maker except for 2 things that make it a deal breaker for me. 1. The opening of the carafe is to narrow to allow for your hand to get in and properly clean it, and 2. The coffee is just not hot. It comes out of the machine at 160F and I have to further heat it if I use milk from the refrigerator(not an issue with the Cuisinart). If you take your coffee black, use powder creamer or non refrigerated creamer it should be fine. I am giving it away and going back to the Cuisinart.
