I bought this coffeemaker because I was moving into an apartment that required an auto-shutoff feature for all coffeemakers, and this was the best one I found through my extensive research. My previous coffeemaker didn't have the safety features I needed, so I ended up getting this one at a local hardware store. I love it! It makes great coffee! The best coffeemaker I've ever owned! And it does have the safety features I need.
My only issue with it is it's too big! I couldn't find anything smaller than a 12 cup coffeemaker with the automatic shutoff feature. I solve this problem by brewing four to six servings at a time and then keeping what I don't drink in the fridge. When I need the caffine, I'll reheat a cup. I only need to brew coffee every few days that way.
The carafe is really easy to pour from. I saw some reviews saying that the spout dripped; perhaps those people had gotten defective carafes. I've never had any dripping problems with the carafe.
I've never used the programming feature. But if I decide I want coffee every day instead of three to five days a week, I'll probably end up learning how to use that feature. It's good to have it on there.
Overall, a great machine to have.

Purchased this item for my 89 year old mother and she loves it. Just like she loved the previous two she had before it.

We have used the hotshots for many years. This is our fourth. It is not as substantial as the older ones and tends to "bend" forward when you dispense the water. Also, not as pictured as no beverage cup included; as with some older models AND as pictured.

The Brewstation (different model) had a good review in consumer reports and reasonable reviews on life expectancy on Amazon so I picked this up at Target. When set on regular, the coffee was too weak but was pretty good once we set the strength to bold.

The reservoir is somewhat awkward to fill (I have spilled it more than a few times). The other annoying feature is that if you do not push the cup against the back firmly, it dribbles. It also always dribbles when you reach the end of the pot.

The little quibbles aside, I enjoy this coffee maker. It is simple to use and makes a good cup of coffee. And, it is very reasonably priced.

This is absolutely the worst coffeemaker ever. We bought it 8 months ago when our good old $20 Mr. Coffee was broken by movers. This one looked so great. Boy were we wrong! This thing makes such a mess! The spout for the cup is up so high that it's hard to see how much coffee is in your cup. Also, if you don't position the cup just perfectly against the lever you end up with coffee all over the place. On top of that, lifting the lid on the top makes a big mess because condensation builds up on it every time you brew a pot of coffee. So, when you open the lid, water runs all down the coffeemaker. As if all of that wasn't bad enough, we've only had this thing for 8 months and the black finish on the inside of the pot is coming off - I discovered it all over my towel when cleaning it tonight. So, unless you want a big mess and want to drink whatever type of paint they used for the bladk finish on this thing, don't buy this coffeemaker.

I've had this coffeemaker for about two months now. I bought it because in the previous three months I had broken three glass carafes, and it was getting ridiculous.

The good/the bad: makes very good coffee, keeps it warm for as long as we want. I like the set delay timer, but it's no good in the winter because when the weather is cold, you need to warm the pot before brewing.

The neutral: extremely bright light on clock. Lights up that whole half of the house at night.

The bad: ergonomically poor design. You have to push very very hard on the button to get the coffee to pour. My friends who have any kind of hand problems can't do it. I don't mind serving them. But, it hurts my fingers too, sometimes, and so I have to unscrew the lid to get to the coffee.
Also when you turn the pot right side up after letting it dry in the dish drainer, it leaks from the top. I think all the seals are pretty poor quality.

Yes, I would buy it again because of the good features, but I would hope Mr. Coffee can fix the ergonomic problem.

Okay, I too was on here looking for what type of reusable filter to buy for this machine because I hate paper filters.

I've had this maker since December '09 and it is now March '10- it seems to be working okay (will be peeved if I wake up in the morning and it broke because I'm writing this). I like the plate warmer functionality in which you can adjust the temp- I don't want to scald my coffee because we buy the expensive crap and I am a huge coffee snob. I love the timer function as well- I think 2 hours is plenty because the essential oils break down after 1 hour of sitting... so after 2 hours if I'm not done with my coffee then there's a problem.

My main beef with this is that it's hard to find a filter for and that I don't quite think the 'strong' setting is strong enough. I'm fearing the regular setting (never tried it) because it might come out as pond seepage (weak crap), but the strong setting brews up an okay cup- I usually have to put the amount for 8 cups of grinds for a 6 cup pot (it's that weak), and it seems to brew a mediocre cup of brew.

Okay, the light is insanely bright on it. Like unreasonably bright. I had to put a piece of masking tape over it so I could get some sleep at night (our bedroom is by the kitchen and we leave the door open- it lights up the entire first floor, I swear).

All in all, it's an okay cup of coffee, but it's my back up for when I don't have time for or my french press is dirty and I haven't cleaned it (either of them, I have 2).

The holes that drip the hot water onto the grounds are about 1 inch around, the surface are they need to cover is about 3 inches around. Guess what? not all the grounds get hot water on them, they remain dry. Wastes coffee, money and makes mediocre coffee. Drawn in by the low price but will eventually will cost more because I will have to replace it with something better.

I got this for my office at work. I like the fact that I can program it so the coffee is ready when I arrive in the morning. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for several hours. The one thing I don't like is that there are no water level marks inside the carafe so filling it at the sink is guesswork. I'm sure I'll figure it out. I REALLY like the fact that it doesn't have a heating element, so if for some reason I don't go to work, the coffee is not sitting there burning up the pot.

According to the reviews, I could have easily ended up with a leaking machine, but mine does not leak. It was purchased at a high end department store. I don't know if that has anything to do with its performance, which is flawless. It brews delicious coffee every time and keeps it hot, for those of you who enjoy hot coffee in the morning, regardless of weather. Furthermore, for those that like to wake up to hot coffee as opposed to those who prefer to prepare it in the morning, it has a feature that allows you to do that, too.

I'm deployed to afghanistan, we had a silver bullet coffeemaker(cafeteria size) and we would waste coffee because not everyone drank it. I would get so sad beacuse I would want to make coffee but with only 2 of us on shift it was a waste for make enough coffee for 15 people when only 2 were there. So there were nights(I work at night) where I wouldn't even make coffee. I got realy sad and depressed because of it. My production level went down and my nights drug on. Then one night while purusing Amazon.com I decided enough is enough, I had to have a regular coffee pot, one that made as much or as little coffee as I wanted and I wouldn't have to worry about wasting it. So I bought this one and wow! My nights are amazing now! I have coffee every night and I never waste coffee anymore! I love you Hamilton Beach 12-Cup BrewStation!

and Bunn does not sell the little 50 cent gasket/rubber washer that is the cause of the leaking. Hopefully my local old fashion hardware store will have a gasket that will work. If you buy a Bunn, it will leak, the question is when. It is still a great coffee maker, and I guess by not making the parts available they sell more units. My current (and now leaking) coffe pot is about 7 years old so that's pretty good, but is sure seeems a waste to have to replace it for lack of a little rubber washer.

This is great for the single cup coffee drinker household. I can brew one large cup whenever the mood strikes and I don't have to worry about being wasteful by brewing a whole pot. I had considered buying a small 5 cup coffee pot but was thrilled when I found this. It's perfect...Doesn't take up a bunch of counter space, coffee is fresh, hot and brews directly into the cup. (Which means no extra mugs to wash.) Plus it has a reusable filter! If you drink only one or two cups a day, then this is a great product!

Liked the coffeemaker a lot until on the sixth day instead of
hearing the coffee dripping it started to hum and smoke was streaming out of it. I unplugged it and once it cooled down checked to see if it still worked and it didn't. The motor must of burned out. Unfortunately I had just discarded the packaging so I couldn't return it. I considered it a lesson learned...you get what you pay for!

I never write reviews but feel the need to warn others not to waste their money on this product. I was able to brew about ten cups of coffee before it broke this morning. You might be asking "What did you expect for $18?" I expected a coffee maker that made coffee. It wasn't quiet to begin with but I don't have to worry about that anymore since it is in the garbage can. Black & Decker used to be a respected name, what happened? DO NOT BUY! From other reviews I see that it isn't even worth trying to return it.

I really liked this coffee pot until this evening. After grating on my poor husband for filling the pot wrong as there was water all over the cabinet and floor he refilled it. Well after cleaning water up the second time we filled it over the sink. The water just poured out the bottom. This morning perfect coffee...this evening want to throw it in the trash. It is only 3 months old.
