I wanted a simple 12-cup coffee maker with no bells and whistles. This appeared to fit the bill. When it arrived, the plastic filter cup turned out to be very flimsy, but the cost was so low and standards have deteriorated so much that I thought it would still be OK. After about 20 uses, however, the spring mechanism in the filter cup that opens the hole where the water filters through into the carafe bent out of shape, even though it had always been treated very gently. So the water can no longer escape the filter and overflows back into the machine and all over the kitchen counter. Spend a bit more money on a more sturdily-built coffee maker. Do not purchase this one or any similarly-priced one. Otherwise, you'll be purchasing a new machine monthly.

The Rio 3 cup looked like a nice looking small capacity French press and it works well. It has a nice heavy and solid feel to it. The big problem is that it will start to rust. Rust streaks have appeared between the glass vessel and the metal frame around it. Worse, lots of rust has built up inside the virtually uncleanable lip of the lid. I was cleaning and drying it out normally and using it only for tea. Obviously this is chromed steel and not stainless which I find hard to believe for an item intended for food preparation.

AAA+++ This press lives up to it's marketing description. My only concern is how to replace the glass insert. I tried a generic replacement, and although it fit okay, the pouring lip is narrower than the original and leaks at the edges. How do I get an original glass replacement?

This is an AMAZING coffee press! I really like pressed coffee because of the little bit of "froth" on the top, but it's so hard to find one that doesn't leave grounds floating around in your coffee. This one is truly awesome! I only wish they would make a travel version!!
