Excellent Grinder 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I owned a Krups coffee grinder before and it lasted 12 years. The GX4100 is a step up from my old one in style. This new one does a wonderful job of grinding. Please be aware that if you grind cloves in it, the plastic top will turn opaque and you will no longer be able to see what is being ground anymore. Otherwise, the best grinder to be had for the money.

Fair to Poor Quality 2 out of 5 stars.

I had a Krups which lasted 10+ yrs, but plug finely went bad. Bought this one because of name and looks. After only 6 weeks, top does not fit into the bottem for grinding since PLASTIC activator peg already broken. Was difficult to fit into the top to get going too. Did grind nicely when I finally got it just in the right place, but this is the not Krups quality I am used to. I returned mine and will try another brand.

Editorial Review:

Breville BCG450XL Conical Burr Grinder 4 out of 5 stars.

This is my first c/b grinder and was skeptical if it was really necessary. I chose it based on web reviews, not personal feedback. Primarily it is used for drip (8cup) and espresso. Without additional exp. w/ other c/b grinders, i find this product is very acceptable for the amateur barista. Easy to assemble, beans have not jammed, consistent grind, less noisy than my old blade type, minor static cling and, most importantly, coffee tastes much better. I'll never go back to blade style.

Great Grinder (especially for a new user such as myself) 5 out of 5 stars.

In the interests of disclosure let me first say that I've never owned a grinder before so I can't compare this grinder to others on the market. However, as a first time buyer I was looking for a couple of things such as: easy to put together, ease of use, and of course, great tasting coffee. I am happy to say that this grinder satisfies all of the above. There is basically no assembly required which is great for someone like me who is a bit of a moron when it comes to putting appliances together. I had made my first cup of coffee about 10 minutes after removing the grinder from the box. Some other messages have stated that the coffee holder can be messsy as related to the static electricity problem. Nothing is perfect and though I occasionally have to clean up my kitchen counter a bit I find that if I am careful there is no problem at all. So maybe one of these days I will upgrade to one of those expensive burr grinders, but for now this product is awesome

Editorial Review:

Barista grade control for a variety of coffee grinds. The removable bean hopper holds 1/2 a pound of coffee beans. The motor drives the bottom burrs and the top plate is stationary. The distance you position them apart precisely determines grind size. The easy-to-read settings allow for grind choices from ultra-fine for Turkish coffee to large and coarse for percolators.

Well Built and Reliable Grinder 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This grinder is well worth the money as it functions perfectly every time I reach for it. It has been used about 4 times a week for over one year now, and has never malfunctioned. Also great for grinding spices, but should not be used for coffee once converted into a spice grinder because it becomes permeated with spices permanently.

Editorial Review:

Coffee devotees know that an efficient grinder can be the secret to a great cup of joe. This model from KitchenAid delivers efficiency and more--from an oversized bowl to dishwasher-safe materials. Powered by a 200-watt motor, the grinder features a permanently attached stainless-steel blade that mills beans quickly and thoroughly. A generous four ounces, the brushed stainless-steel bowl is mounted to the motor housing with a clockwise turn and etched with handy reference markings. The machine turns on when you push down on the clear polycarbonate cover and off again when it's released. As a protective feature, the grinder only operates when the top is in place, so fingers are never exposed to moving blades. Solid and attractive, the grinder is also designed for frequent use and is easy to clean. Both its bowl and top cover go in the dishwasher, while the rest wipes clean with a damp cloth. --Emily Bedard

I love this model 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I've had one of these for about 10-12 years and it has always worked great grinding coffee nice & fine. Perfect for making espresso. After daily use for that long, it finally wore out and I am so glad that they are still making them. The cord winding function is fantastic, it keeps the cord clean, safe & out of the way. It grinds coffee as fine as any grinder out there. (I used to run a small coffee bar so I've ground a lot of coffee.) My advice if you need buckets of ground coffee is to buy a large capacity model but for standard portions of coffee, ground as fine as you'd like, this model is wonderful.

Convenient and Stores nicely 5 out of 5 stars.

I have owned this for over 7 years - probably longer. I use it for coffee for our french press and our automatic coffee maker and love it. The cord easily wraps up inside and it makes the perfect amount for 8-10 cups of coffee. I got another one as a gift (can't remember the brand, but loved this one and kept it and donated the other.

Coffee Mill 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Quiet and effective. The only downside is there is no built-in timer. I use a stop watch to grind consistent quantities. The grind is uniform and the glass carafe doesn't build up a static charge.

Annoying Coffee Grinder 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

After owning this grinder for over 2 years I would rate it average. I have to poke at the beans every day to get them to feed and grind. It gets old having to baby-sit a grinder and mess with it. It is a heavy duty unit and works excellent in every other regard.

No Other Grinder Compares 5 out of 5 stars.

If you are looking to have your own espresso set up at home, go all out the first time and you will never look back (or need another).
Kitchen Aid has proven themselves once again with simply the best grinder there is! It is worth the extra money and you will be tickled pink.
Thank You,
Patricia S.

Solid Performer If New And A Real Steal When Reconditioned 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The Cuisinart DBM-8 is a very attractive stainless and black automatic coffee mill at a decent price ($50); however it's an absolute steal if you can buy one of the reconditioned units at $16.99. Factory Reconditioned Cuisinart DBM-8FR Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill

This mill is built around a burr grinding mechanism, which produces uniform sized coffee grounds - far superior to the results from the common blade coffee grinders that dominate the under $30 price range. I have even had good results using this mill to grind up flax seed into meal and rice grains into flour (although the end product is not quite as fine as commercial flour).

The grind selector offers 18 levels ranging from fine to coarse; however, my primary complaint is that the very finest level is not fine enough for making Turkish coffee, and only borderline for espresso. The mill is designed so that the upper burr grind plate can be removed, so in theory you could install a thin gasket behind it to reduce the distance between the two plates and produce an ultra-fine result; however, I was unable to remove the screws holding the upper plate in place so I gave up on the idea.
This Cuisinart is larger than most inexpensive coffee mills - it occupies about a 5"x7" footprint, and is 10" high; but that's mainly because of its large capacity. It features a large clear acrylic bean hopper that holds a ½ pound or more of whole beans and seals fairly tightly, so it doesn't require frequent refilling. There is a slide control calibrated in cups (4 to 18) which allows you to set the length of time that the grinder runs, and the clear acrylic grounds container is big enough to handle whatever volume you chose to grind.

I have had my Cuisinart DBM-8 for almost two years and it has performed faithfully. I mainly use it now for grinding meal and flours since I purchased a semi-automatic espresso machine last year that has its own built in grinder.

Editorial Review:

Cuisinart DBM8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Coffee Grinder - Grinding coffee beans just prior to brewing coffee delivers the optimal level of natural oils and flavonoids. The result is a fresh, delicious, complex-tasting cup of coffee that is pleasurable and satisfying. So forget about store ground coffee if you want to get the most flavor from the coffee bean. Grind those beans yourself just before you make your coffee. You'll appreciate the difference. Heavy duty motor 18-Month limited Cuisinart warranty
