this kettle has been a real dissapointment. i have 3 major complaints with it and the only benefit is that it looks good. i bought it 1/2 a year ago and am now replacing it.
1) it leaks all over my counter.
2) it is slow to boil compared to other electric kettles we've had.
3) it has a weird lid that has to be lined up EXACTLY with the kettle in order to snap close. it is a real nuisance and even when it closes, it unsnaps very easily.

I received this gift from my mother in law after we had tea at a friend's house. She owned it and said she used it all the time. We spent the weekend with her and found that we used it quite a bit. It was very easy to use, portable and easy to clean up. It's a great kettle to have if you need hot water for tea/cocoa, etc.

I bought this kettle in February 2006. I liked everything about it until its automatic ON-OFF switch died recently - only two months after the purchase. Now the kettle won't turn on. It wasn't abused in any way, and these kettles usually last for years and years. The last one of similar kind served me well for 12 years until it started to leak and was replaced with this spanking new Proctor Silex K4070.

I wonder if my bad experience with this kettle was unique? Has anyone else had one with a short-lived switch, or was I unlucky?

Works well (and fast) but if you get the base element wet by immersing or even a few drops of water, the unit fails. Even wiping electrical connection with a damp (not wet)cloth ruins the machine. This aspect of design could be better. Fortunately, it's inexpensive to replace.

I didn't want to spend lots of money for a new Percolator. Majority of retail stores wanted over $75.00 for a new one. Amazon.com had this factory reconditioned Cuisinart Percolator for a great very, very low price. I bought two, and when I received these unit I couldn't believe how great and new looking these factory reconditioned percolator. Makes great coffee and stays hot for a long time without the burning taste like other coffee makers. You can use your auto-drip coffee grinds, but you will need to get a percolator filter disc. Any food supermarket in the coffee section sell this filter disc, and it does work great. Both unit works so good I bought two more for my family; can't beat the savings and great price.

We researched tea kettles before purchasing this one - price was a big part of the decision. We have no regrets. It's beautiful, and functional. We love the fact that it turns itself off once it boils, and it seems like it only takes a moment to bring a couple of mugs worth of water to a boil.

Good product - never quite sure why is a reconditioned item though 4 out of 5 stars.

Good value for money, kettle works well and so its been good to try it.
Always the chance it will fail just after the 3 months warrenty is up!
For Brits looking a for a kettle - its a good one, I would be happy to buy the full price version now.

The Worst....It's and old fashioned percolater. The keep warm cycle does not work. It just keeps percing and destroys your expensive tea. I am using it because I paid for it, but I hate it.

I was not sure when I started using it if that it was working well, but it was a matter of time, waiting for the water to go through the top takes a while (3 minutes...?)
Other than that, it works great as it supposes to do.
And price is reasonable.

Kettle works fine, filling level is easy to see. And the lid opens easy to fill the kettle up. The round plateau on which you place the kettle is very handy as it doesn't matter how you put the kettle on there.

I bought one of these on February 10th. It has a 60-day warranty. On April 8th it started leaking out of the seam above the heating element. I have only used it to heat water for tea, coffee, etc and never let it go dry.

The previous WestBend pots I have had (different models) lasted about a year and then had to be replaced, which meant that I was buying a new one each year (excessive).

But this latest model's new twist of a 60 day lifespan is too much. And to return it you have to mail it to WestBend, pay for the shipping and insurance -- which is half the cost of the item.

I guess it's a great racket, if you can sucker enough people into buying it.

My recommendation -- Don't waste your money!

The electric hot pot is easy to use and keeps water hot as long as it is plugged in. Simply fill the container up (with no more than 5 cups of water) and plug it into a 120-volt AC outlet. In about 10 minutes water willbe suitably hot for tea and other steaming beverages or snacks.
