Underwhelmed 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I am sorry to say I returned the Cuisinart Limited Edition Food Processor. I used a Braun Kitchen Center for many years, until I dropped the base and smashed it, and was disappointed that it worked better than this state of the art food processor.

My main complaint was the chopping size inconsistencies. No matter how small and uniformly I cut something up it always had big pieces left. I love the features but can not deal with that. It defeats the purpose entirely to have to pre-chop everything so small and still get uneven results.

I was also unhappy with the fact that they didn't provide storage for the attachments and discs. That is crazy for this price.

I just spent much less on the highly rated KitchenAid KFP750OB 700-Watt 12-Cup Food Processor that does include a storage case for the attachments.

Wish me better luck this time.

The food processor SHOW DOWN: A comparison of 14 cup stainless Cuisinart food processors 3 out of 5 stars.
66 of 66 people found this review helpful.

When I buy a new kitchen or household item with lots of competitors I do loads of comparison/contrasting and research first if it's over a hundred bucks...Knowing it was time for a new food processor, I began comparing models. However, I found it a tad difficult to do with all the different blades, codes, etc.

Therefore, once I had completed my own shopping and comparisons, I thought it might be helpful for anyone else in the same situation if I posted my own comparisons here.

I'll start by saying I decided to order the Cuisinart Limited Edition Metal 14 cup food processor on Amazon. I found it to be the best value for my own needs and it was cheaper here than anywhere else I looked as of the time of my review. I chose Cuisinart because it's known to be the best but what made me decide on the limited edition may not be what you would want...this way you can compare and decide.

I chose a 14 cup because I love soups and big batches of dough.

I only looked at stainless because I only have 2 electronics on my countertops....this will be one. And it best matches the appliances.

So...that said...here we go: (these are all by Cuisinart)

I compared The Custom 14 food processor DFP 14BCN.
I will call this "C from now on.

I compared it to the Limited Edition 14 cup MP-14N
I will call this "LE" from now on

I compared also the Elite Collection 14 cup FP 14DC
(I will call this "E" from now on)

and I compared the PowerPrep Plus 14 cup DLC-2014CHB
(I will call this "PP" from now on)

WARRANTY:
C: 5 year motor, 3 year entire unit
LE: 20 year motor warranty, 3 year entire unit
E:20 year motor warranty, 3 year LIMITED warranty
PP:10 year motor warranty, 3 year entire unit

CONTROLS:
C: Two controls: On/off and pulse. No dough mode button
LE: 4 controls: On, Off, Pulse, Dough
E: 4 controls: On, Off, Pulse, Dough
PP: 4 controls: On, Off, Pulse, Dough

MOTOR: (heavy doughs especially need the better motor if you use these)
C: regular motor, 720 watt
LE: most powerful: over ¾ horsepower commercial induction motor
E: regular 1000 watt motor
PP: induction motor 768 watt motor

HOUSING:
C: Brushed stainless overlay
LE: Heavy duty die-cast metal
E: Brushed stainless overlay
PP: Brushed stainless overlay

DOUGH BLADE:
C: plastic
LE: all metal
E: plastic
PP: all metal

SHREDDING BLADE:
C: stainless medium
LE: stainless medium
E: stainless reversible shredding disc (fine/medium)
PP: stainless medium

SLICING BLADE:
C: 4mm
LE: 4mm
E: adjustable 1-6mm
PP: 4mm

CHOPPING/MIXING:
C: large blade
LE: large
E:Large and small blades for various sized bowls it comes with
PP: large

How To DVD:
C:none
LE:included
E:included
PP: video included

All have extra large feeding tubes which replaced the small ones of food processors of yesteryear so you don't have to prechop veggies to get them in the feeding tubes. All come with spatulas to scrape them down. All have parts that are dishwasher safe.

Other:
C: has large and small pushers.
LE: also comes with attachable beater blades so you don't have to keep your mixer on the countertop or drag out two appliances for some mixing chores. Bowl is made so no food gets caught in grooves or corners. Cord can be wrapped underneath machine.
E: also comes with attachable 11 cup and 4.5 cup bowls with pour spouts and measurement markings for small chores. These nest inside the 14 cup bowl. Some have complained that the narrow base and wide top, which makes the nestling bowls fit in, don't allow as smooth of mixing and also that food gets caught in a rim making this bowl harder to clean after mixing things that get trapped like shredded cheese and fine nuts. This is the only one that comes with an accessory storage case with a lock...nice to keep blades away from kids. This is the only one that had a retractable cord.
PP:has large and small pushers

Conclusion:
What I wanted in my food processor may be different from you so I'll note a few things. For me, the Limited Edition was what I purchased because it was far higher priced everywhere else on the internet including the Cuisinart site itself so I thought it good value and its price on Amazon, it's warranty was the best and it had the most powerful motor of all of them so, since I use it often, this was a plus. Also because of its powerful motor it is best for doughs as was the solid metal dough blade. I have a huge kitchenaid mixer that I don't keep on the counter so having the beater blade attachment was great for quick mixing when I don't wish to drag it out of the pantry. Because most of my slicing is the 4mm and I never do any fine shredding, the adjustable blades weren't needed for me (and I can buy them later if I want them...all parts are interchangeable on the 14 cup Cuisinart food processors.) BUT if you are someone who wants a variety of bowl sizes and blades, then I'd say the Elite would be the best choice. It's also nice that that one comes with an accessory storage case. However, I find having to unstack the small bowls housed inside the large one and get food out that gets trapped in the seams with the Elite model were an annoyance I wished to avoid. I found the custom to be too simple with a lesser motor and poor warranty and no mode specifically for dough. And the powerprep is fine but more basic as well with a lesser warranty and motor for almost the same price as the uber food processor...(the limited edition). Might be ok for those who rarely use the machine who know they won't wear out the motor. Also, Cuisinart is really going "old school" on this model to include a VHS tape with it...rather than the DVD included in the newer models. Still it's got an induction motor which is still better than the Custom and the Elite...(but the Elite has more wattage to it's motor inspite of the fact it's not an induction motor.) Final thought is for the price, the parts, the mega motor, the commercial grade and the warranty of the Limited Edition along with its ease of cleaning and stremlined look... it just pulled out ahead of the game for me.

I'm very happy with my purchase...my old food processor was working fine but had the small chute and didn't offer near what this new one does and it looks impressive on the counter even though I'm very picky about anything out on the counter in my kitchen as my kitchen is open to the living room so I have to keep it neat. The metal is attractive, the motor is SO quiet for what it is, and the chopping power is tremendous...I did a couple batches of dough already too and it makes some FINE pizza in no time because of it!

Negatives: Some complain about the new food processors having safety mechanisms that won't allow the machine to start unless everything is aligned perfectly. For me this is not a negative because the newer machines with the commercial induction motors being loose would easily chop off your head. And that's a kitchen mess none of us want. They aren't your mama's old school food processors that whir at a low speed...these things do all but chop logs and they'd probably do that too. I want nothing loose when this baby starts!

p.s. If you buy shredded cheese, try shredding your own in the food processor...not only will you save lots of cash to help pay for the food processor, but shredded cheese is coated so it won't stick together. If you shred your own it actually tastes soooo much better and fresher, and it melts better. Same for meat...except for the melting part! But I'm a cheese lover above all else...

3-cup food processor 5 out of 5 stars.
10 of 12 people found this review helpful.

I bought this to replace the 3-cup food processor that I have been breaking slowly for the past 3 years. The final blow came when I needed to shred raw chicken. I didn't chop the chicken small enough & added too much. Before I did that I broke the pusher piece, the lid and dropped the whole appratus a few times. It has been taking a beating from me for years.

I tried to find this on the internet, and had almost no luck. I really didn't want to buy a new food processor, I just wanted to replace what I broke. I found it here & received it in a few days and love it. I am trying not to break it this time. It is a great product that works well & I am happy to have it.

loe it 5 out of 5 stars.

I love the product, but misread what I was getting and didn't realize it was an attachment to a blender, so now I have to buy the blender in order to use the product. I thought it was just a small mini food processor and didn't realize it was an attachment.

Poor Pour Spout...! 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

No problems so far, approximately one year later. Doesn't get a whole lot of use though. The main complaint is regarding the blender jar pour spout. What an inefficient design! Liquids just spill over the edge then drip down the side of the jar when uprighted. Also, the inside ridges that go from top to bottom which help to knock the food around are poorly placed. There are four, one in the middle of each side. It would be better to have two on each side because having them in the middle makes it hard to use a spatula without making a mess. When scraping contents to spout (such as it is) it exits at either side of the spout. Not a good design. It's nearly enough to earn 3 instead of 4 stars.

Didn't last the long-haul 3 out of 5 stars.

I loved this combination food processor-blender. It did all the work I needed, it was easy to switch out the different parts of the unit, and easy to wash and clean.

I bought the unit in late 2004, and used it until late 2008, so it lasted for 4 years.

Unfortunately, the warranty is only for 3 years and the motor burned appears to have burnt out. I would expect a blender that costs this much to last much longer especially given that I did not use it all that frequently.

For the first couple years, it performed very well, then it started to have trouble crushing frozen fruit, let alone ice. Then one day it stopped working altogether.

I may try to take it to a local repair shop, but I'm hesitant to spend the time and money to ship it off to the cuisinart repair when they are unable to give me a quote for the cost of the repair.

Cool Cast Metal and Commercial styling make the Smart Power Premier Duet one of the most sophisticated appliances on the market. This phenomenal multitasker is two appliances in one, delivering twice the performance options and in half the counter space.

I don't love it. 2 out of 5 stars.
11 of 11 people found this review helpful.

We received this as a wedding gift over a year ago and I use it an least a couple of times a week.

Here's what I like about this food processor:
Sturdy.
Easy to disassemble and clean (in the dishwasher).
It's quiet.
Motor seems robust.

Here's what I don't like:
- It doesn't chop everything evenly. You basically have to chop everything to a pulp to get large chunks to be cut up and lots of times you just have to pick the large chunks out because the machine just isn't going to chop 'em.
- When you use the grating wheel, half of the item you're trying to shred winds up in chunks and lodged in the crevices of the lid or between the lid and the wheel.
- The "full-sized tube" is extremely narrow. I have to cut some carrots in half lengthwise in order for them to fit. And carrot-stick sized pieces are going to get stuck between the wheel and lid every time.
- When you try to puree soup in it (or any other liquid) it's going to leak out the top where the lid and the main bowl meet. Even if you use an insanely small amount the blades whir it up there and then it leaks out.
- Please do not be fooled for a MINUTE thinking that you can process 7 cups of stuff in this at one time. The blades will never reach the top stuff and you would have to stir it by hand every 10 seconds to get it all to chop evenly.

The thing that is the most upsetting to me is that this is in the top two rated home food processors and I find it's performance extremely disappointing.

Editorial Review:

This powerful and hardworking food processor from KitchenAid takes the pain out of food prep. It features a full-size feed tube and multiple blades, including a stainless steel multipurpose blade that blends, chops, minces and emulsifies quickly and easily.

We used to have the single personal blender, but when it finally blew, we had to find another. What a surprise to find Hamilton Beach made one with two jars, and we got it for not much more than we paid for the first one!
WHAT A DEAL!
Got it in great time, and as I said above...WORKS LIKE A CHARM...and believe me, we use this every day, if it didn't work well, I would definitely be letting you know!

Don't Buy! It sucks! 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I bought this for myself for Christmas. Why this one? Honestly, I really needed a new one to replace the great $3 Braun I had gotten from a yard sale- the bowl was cracked and no replacement parts are available anymore. So $39 for a 10-cup, sure! WOW! Where should I start...
    1. the bottom has suction cups; not helpful at all.
    2. doesn't Black & Decker deal in power tools? Yeah, it was that loud!
    3. The wide-mouth feature includes a regular sized chute but it doesn't come apart
    4. where the chute meets the lid is a tiny area perfect for food to get into but it's so small the only thing I could use to get the food out was a knife so when cleaning it, you cant get into that area and remember the smaller chute that doesn't come apart? Well, can't clean that either
    5. There is one blade for shredding and slicing. (One side for shredding- flip it over for slicing.) So even though you may be using the shredder, you also have to clean out the slicer.
In summary- I couldn't get it back in the box fast enough. Luckily, I didn't throw away my Braun, just in case...I'd rather have to cover the crack in my quiet, old Braun any day than use this food processor. A man definitely designed this, no question!

    Editorial Review:

Just how powerful is the Power Pro Wide-Mouth Food Processor? So powerful, that we had to design special heavy-duty suction cup feet to keep it in place while it slices, chops, shreds, grates and purees whole apples, potatoes, cucumbers, onions, blocks of cheese or any other whole foods with ease. With a fierce, 500-watt motor and tons of torque working in concert under its sleek and sturdy exterior, this is one heavy-duty piece of machinery that performs as great as it looks.

did B&D even test this thing? 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I've had this little thing forever - but I only use the chopping blade. Did they even TRY shredding a carrot..cheese....anything? Because I gotta tell you, I make my living as a personal chef, so I'm pretty handy when it comes to familiarizing myself with culinary appliances; I just though maybe I mixed up some parts from some other appliance, or wasn't assembling it correctly. The shredder/slicer attachment is so faulty that's it's actually kind of funny (only after you've lassoed the shreds of kamikaze cheddar that stormed the counter, floor, and pretty much anywhere BUT the bowl and recovered from a brief spell of vertigo as a result). Um....don't get it? yeah - don't get it.

    Editorial Review:

Use the built-in chute to slice or shred cheese, cucumbers, mushrooms, and more. Remove the chute cover & use the chopping blade to chop onions, peppers, nuts, or bread crumbs. Great for small amounts for favorite recipes like sauces, dips, or dressings. Continuous chute to slice or shred food into a mixing/serving bowl.
