I am so excited! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

My girlfriend and I picked out this food prossessor and we tried out right away. It chops well and the shredding blade works great shredding cheese. We also made home made salsa. It was exactly what I was looking for in a food processor. Some may say it is a bit loud but it does not bother me. I bought it at walmart for $54.88 I am really enjoying it!

PLEASANTLY SURPRISED 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought this at Walmart for $30, and was prepared to live with any deficiencies it may have had in view of the bargain price I paid. After 2 months of use, I am absolutely thrilled with the performance, and I found nothing to gripe about. In fact, I'm feeling rather smug about the fact that this processor does everything that much higher priced models do, and I got it for next to nothing. While I find that Amazon more often than not has the best prices available, they seem to have gone off the track on this one. However, I appreciate their openness in allowing us to post comments on products purchased elsewhere.

Editorial Review:

Prepare foods without cutting them into smaller pieces. The Big Mouth food processor can handle whole tomatoes, potatoes and other large foods. The specially designed food chute grabs the food and helps you achieve even slices for the whole item. With 500 watts, you can prepare any food.

What Has Cuisinart Done? 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I was the first in my neighborhood to buy a Cuisinart (made in France) 30 years ago after hearing Julia praise it. It served me VERY VERY well.
It was time to buy a new processor so I bought this model. IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN! NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO USE! AND THE MOTOR DIED AFTER 3 USES. This model is made in China (so what else is new?). Save yourself some grief.

Safety features render it worthless 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

We have used our DFP-7BC for a little over a year. The comments about the safety feature are spot on. In addition, the plastic locking tab on the lid carriage breaks very easily. We have been thru 2 of them now and it is expensive to replace. We have tried to contact the company to get some relief, but so far have not gotten it. If we do I will udpate this review, but otherwise I would stay far away from this POS and find a professional model designed by a company that actually understands the home kitchen.

7-cup capacity and versatile assortment of blades and discs. The extra large feed tube and pusher and sleeve assembly handle whole fruits and vegetables with ease.

Acceptable food processor 4 out of 5 stars.
11 of 11 people found this review helpful.

First I am not a professional cook nor do I strive to be. I assume that anyone reading reviews for a Black and Decker food processor are in the same boat. I just enjoy cooking and preparing healthy, and usually easy, meals for my family.

Out of the box I was pretty impressed with the unit. The base is solid and heavy and each piece, albeit most plastic, feel substantial as well. So without delay I will list the pros and cons I see with this unit:

PROS

- Looks good sitting on the counter, no reason to hide it (unless you ARE a professional chef).
- Every little nook and cranny that can get food in it is accessible through the dishwasher or hand washing.
- Safety feature of needing to lock the workbowl AND the wide-mouth attachment for the unit to operate is a nice feature for those of use with kids.
- 10-cup size is ample to prevent overloading
- Workbowl fits snug into base once locked and the teeth on the base have much less likelihood of deteriorating.
- Suction cups on base is nice for me. It could be a con for some who prefer an easily movable processor.
- Good warranty and customer service has been accessible and great thus far.
- Wide mouth setup actually works for me. You remove the wide-mouth feed chute, load in your large item (tomato, apple, orange) and then replace the wide-mouth chute and use it to guide the item down to be prepared. This helkps prevent overloading with large items if you could simply feed in one after the other.

CONS

- The surround on the base around the touch buttons for the controls is cheap and is already "buckling" and "bubbling". I am praying it stays this way and does not peel off.
- The main gear on the workbowl that attaches to the base's toothed gear is not customer replaceable. There is no part number and the chances that Fox (the people used by B&D for warranty replacement and repairs) understanding what you need are slim. Most likely will simply get another workbowl.
- Loud, VERY loud. Certain Cuisinart models are far quieter, but I usually am not trying to talk to someone when I am using a tool with sharp blades.
- Fan creates a VERY strong gust of wind that will blow away anything light on your counter (including flour which was nice).

As for my personal use of the machine, I do not trust the blades in the dishwasher just as I do not trust my Wüsthof knives in there. I hand-wash each blade after use and dry it. This will help keep them sharper longer and will keep them looking new as well.

Overall I think this is a great food processor. There are a few concerns for long-term use such as the non-replaceable gear and the surround on the controls, but that is not enough to give lower than 4 stars and also prevents a perfect 5-star rating.

Editorial Review:

Just how powerful is the Power Pro Wide-Mouth Food Processor? So powerful, that we had to design special heavy-duty suction cup feet to keep it in place while it slices, chops, shreds, grates and purees whole apples, potatoes, cucumbers, onions, blocks of cheese or any other whole foods with ease. With a fierce, 500-watt motor and tons of torque working in concert under its sleek and sturdy exterior, this is one heavy-duty piece of machinery that performs as great as it looks.

Cuisinart DLC-X Plus 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I bought this model close to 20 years ago - if the motor is essentially the same, it is a very study addition to your kitchen. I use mine quite a bit. The lexan bowls have been replaced several times - they crack - and are almost as expensive as a cheaper, smaller Cuisinart. But if you want the best home model food processor, this is worth every penny.

Best investment ever 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I bought this thing on a fluke in the mid 1980's. I walked into a Sams Club and saw a stack of these that said "one time buy". It was only $250! Now I wish I had bought them all. Needless to say this thing handles every thing you can throw at it without effort.
It's still running strong after 20 years without any trouble. The Lexan lid is beginning to spider crack but hasn't failed yet. I suspect I'll have to replace it eventually. This is the best made appliance I've ever owned.

Introducing the industrial-size DLC-XP Food Processor from Cuisinart. Professional chefs and serious home cooks will love this powerful appliance. Loaded with features, but so easy to use, the versatile DLC-XP slices whole fruits and vegetables, and kneads bread.

I'd Label it Negative Stars if I Could 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I have an older model of this food processor. Let me tell you, one time after using it a screw in the lid stripped itself out while powered on and ruined the lid. I called the company and was greeted by a horrendously incompetent worker who refused to help me. I told her it was a wedding gift at the beginning of the conversation.

At the end of the conversation, when she refused to help me in any way, I told her that I will never buy Hamilton Beach again. "I thought you said it was a gift anyway?" was her response.

Mine? "I'm in my twenties. Do you really think this is going to be the last appliance I ever own?"

I HAVE NOT bought any of their products since, and if someone doesn't know better and buys when for me, I promptly return it to the store for a different brand. Even if I like the layout or color of the HB better!

(By the way--did try again after that, thinking maybe I got a crabby CS rep--the next one was equally as unhelpful and rude!)

Hamilton Beach=Two Thumbs WAY Down!

Great kitchen luxury 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I have had this processor for almost 2 years and use it constantly. I bought it to do baby food for my second child and have found numerous uses for it. It processed the food I made well, but it was not a silky-smooth texture without adding a lot of extra liquid. For that purpose, I typically make chunkier purees, adding extra liquid to the frozen cubes upon reheating. That way I could make large batches of baby food that 'grew' with my child once she was out of the 'stage 1' foods. Now off the rabbit trail...

I use my processor to make pie dough, huge batches of cookies, hummus, salsa....pretty much anything. It is super easy to clean and has performed well for these two years with near-daily use. It IS a monster to store, but for me it was worth creating a space for it because I use mine so much. I would say it's footprint is *about* the size of my KitchenAid Classic mixer.

It's an excellent product at an excellent price :)

Perfect for potatoes 5 out of 5 stars.

The Thin Slicing Disc is not included with the 14 Inch Cuisinart Custom Food Processor, but if you like American fried potatoes or home-made potato chips you will want to buy this disc. It makes perfect slices in seconds.

Editorial Review:

Use the Thin Slicing Disc for raw vegetables like potatoes, carrots and root vegetables. Makes perfect uniform slices so you can turn out luscious gratins and layer casseroles, beautiful salads and garnishes and wonderful looking desserts. Works with 14-cup models.About Cuisinart... In 1973, Carl Sontheimer introduced the world to its first Cuisinart food processor. His design, a creative adaptation based on an elaborate industrial blender, was soon widely produced in France and became indispensable in homes across the world. Since then, Sontheimer's original appliance has evolved, and additional Cuisinart products have been added, contributing to the original collection of time-saving tools used by professional chefs and home cooks alike. Even after 25 years, Cuisinart is still one of the most recognizable brands in quality kitchenware.

feeding a crowd 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I have owned this processor for 4.5 years and really given it a good work out. I entertain a lot! The price and capacity is what made me choose this over the Cusinart.
As people mentioned the cylinder by the mouth is hard to keep clean, which has now led to the lid of the chute cracking and breaking into 2. I wanted to buy a replacement bowl as the motor is still powerful and everything else works great, but unfortunately its not available so I am going to get another one of these machines.

Could have been 5 stars 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This would be the perfect food processor except for two things. First, the one inch gap above the slicer/grater blade means you lose the last inch of every food you put in for slicing. Second, the extra strong suction cup feet make it next to impossible to move. If you have a permanent space for this appliance on your kitchen counter, that could be a plus because they do hold it firmly in place. If you can live with these two shortcomings, then I certainly recommend this processor. Otherwise, you should keep shopping.
