DANGEROUS 1 out of 5 stars.
5 of 14 people found this review helpful.

I had a similar model of Cuisinart food processor, and the blade recently broke off while in use, broke through the plastic container, and flew across the room. As a result of luck only, no one was in its path. Customer service had no real response; they suggested that I pay $20 to replace the broken parts.

An examination of the broken blade shows that this is likely to be a recurring problem with this model and any other Cuisinarts using a similar blade. It is clear that this structural failure is due to a lack of reinforcement of the blades at the point of riveting. The removal of material for the placement of the rivets, the thinness of the material, and the large amount of leverage placed upon the rivets by the longer blades led to the structural failure of the part. This failure could have happened at any time, and could have caused severe injury to the user. The tempering necessary to create blades that stay sharp is the same tempering that makes it impossible to have such thin, un-reinforced parts. The blades should either be made of thicker material, or have a wider section in the area of rivet contact to avoid failure.

Great mid-size food processor at a great price! 5 out of 5 stars.

I received the Hamilton Beach 70670 food processor for my birthday. I absolutely love it! It has all the features one could want; two speeds, pulse option, plus two shredding disks.

I have used the processor four times now, all with great success. It has the power to shred sharp cheddar cheese as well as being able to finely chop basil for pesto.

Clean up is a cinch. The bowl and chute can go into the upper shelf of the dishwasher. Also, it has a small enough footprint that makes storing the processor a breeze.

I would highly recommend this product.

Good Quality 4 out of 5 stars.

I bought this for my son, because he wants to learn to cook. I bought one of the first ones in production. It's been more years than I can remember- AND IT'S JUST AS GOOD AS WHEN IT WAS NEW. I still use it all the time. Need I say more?

Amazing 5 out of 5 stars.

This will devour anything you put in it. Works great and is easy to clean and set up. I would also recommend getting the storage accessory for the blades as they are extremely sharp.

Even better than the old model. 5 out of 5 stars.

We had a classic Cuisinart for more than 20 years and loved it. When it finally gave up the ghost, I bought this model as a present for my husband. He prefers it to even his old beloved model. It's very powerful, very fast, and the bowl seems easier to clean. I hope it lasts as long....

Great product! 5 out of 5 stars.

The product works great! Both my girlfriend and I have had so much fun in the kitchen with the Cuisinart! Cleanup is a breeze as well.

The design on this has some major flaws, which really surprised me given Cuisinart's long experience in the business. The food processor lid has a full 1" gap between the blade and lid, where pieces of food get caught when trying to use the grater/slicer blade, and clang around inside or get stuck and stress the motor. The plastic pusher, which you use to hold food in place for grating or slicing, was for no good reason at all designed to be very slightly asymmetrical, so that it only goes in one way (but the curvature on both sides is similar, and so the correct direction isn't obvious). The processor lid is difficult to get seated correctly. The spindle holding the slicer/grater blade into the food processor base sits on a plastic piece that is stressed when pushing down to grate or slice firm foods like carrots, and in fact this was the part on mine that failed within an hour of its first use. To be fair, I was preparing a dinner for 40 people, so I had a lot of carrots and beets to deal with, but this is also exactly what these devices are for.

It's mentioned several times that the motor on this thing is like a jet engine, and it is. It's so loud that it is certainly a safety issue, and might damage someone's hearing. The button mechanism for the food processor is also really inconvenient, and might pose a safety hazard. In effect, there's no "pulse" option so you can have fine control, but instead you press "on," then "food processor," and the thing goes wild until you press "off" (a third button). If you need to shut it off quickly I can imagine this might be an issue.

All of this hits me in a pet peeve, I admit. When I go see a movie it particularly irks me if the writing is bad, given the kind of talent available, and the fact that good writing can't be much more expensive than bad. Similarly in an appliance like this I just don't see why they bring a bad design to production, when it can't possibly cost a lot more to do it right. The good news is that if enough of us send our unsatisfactory machines back to Cuisinart, maybe they'll get the message.

Editorial Review:

It's like two appliances in one! All the power and versatility you expect from a Cuisinart food processor, combined with a seven speed glass jar blender. You'll be completely equipped to make an Orange Creamsicle Shake or Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake with Raspberry Sauce. The economy of design demonstrated by the SmartPower Duet is impressive, and sure to be especially appreciated by those with limited storage.

I have had this same style food processor for a number of years. I had to buy a replacement bowl once for it otherwise it does the job very well. This one was purchased for my daughter. Recommend purchase.

Versatile Kitchen Tool 5 out of 5 stars.

I had been using a Hamilton Beach food processor for years. Initially, I was a bit nervous about spending/investing the money to buy this product, especially after reading some of the negative reviews about sharp blades and "prohibitive" safety features. But, having used it over the holiday season, I am very satisfied with it's performance in terms of capabilities, speed of use, power, safety and "good looks", especially when compared to food processors from other manufacturers. From dough to cole slaw to salsa to veggie prep, it does it all. It's also fairly easy to clean after use for the next job. Great product!

Editorial Review:

Another of Cuisinart's "next generation" of food processors, this is not as large or quite as powerful as the 14 cup model, but it will perform the same functions and is more than adequate for most families' needs. The large feed tube means less pre-chopping and the dough blade and function ensure you get the perfect dough consistency. Like its bigger sibling it has a new stream-lined design and a longer warranty than the original 11 cup Cuisinart, but is compatible with any 11 cup specialty discs or blades you may already own.

If You've Been Wanting One...This Is It 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I've had my eye on getting a food mill for awhile. If you're like me you've hesitated at getting a 'good' one for several hundred dollars a few times and decided to spend the money on something else. I finally bit the bullet and bought this to make baby food after seeing the good reviews and the price tag. I must say after using it a few times today it's fantastic! It pureed potatoes and peas like a champ so far. The clean up is also a breeze as is changing the discs out. I have nightmares of my Mom's from childhood that had a bolt and nuts and washers and springs to reassemble and clean. Not so with this model. The horizontal bar has a quick release and it pops right apart. A quick rinse right after use and a scrub here and there and done. Easy and efficient. I can't speak to the durability as of yet, but it seems study and the rubber legs gripped the bowl below perfectly. Don't wait if you've been wanting one. Great.

Editorial Review:

The OXO Good Grips Food Mill is the perfect tool for preparing fresh purees, sauces, soups and more. It has a stainless steel inner bowl that is ideal for hot foods and will not stain, and includes 3 stainless steel grinding discs for fine, medium and coarse textures. Use the fine disc for homemade jellies, creamy sauces and baby food, the medium disc for applesauce and vegetable soups, and the coarse disc for mashed potatoes and chunkier sauces. The Food Mill has a unique release button that makes it easy to exchange discs and disassemble for storage. Three non-slip legs hold the Food Mill securely over bowls and pots up to 11 inches in diameter, keeping it out of your food. The legs also fold for easy storage. The soft, non-slip handle and knob ensure comfort when gripping the Food Mill and turning the blade. All parts are dishwasher-safe.

Woo Hoo! 5 out of 5 stars.

After purchasing and using 3 different food processors in the past, I finally made the KitchenAid purchase from Amazon and find it works well with everything I've tried so far. The first thing I made was coleslaw. I was so fascinated with the perfect grating that I finished a whole head of cabbage(for two people) before I knew it! I have sliced potatoes and grated nuts for cakes and cookies and it does both equally well. I think you will be very pleased with this food processor in your kitchen.

Not Bad, Not Bad At All 5 out of 5 stars.

Terrible Quality and Lack Lustre Customer Service 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I had a Cuisinart food processor prior to purchasing the KitchenAid. I've read all the reviews over the years (Consumer Reports, Cook's Illustrated) claiming that this is, by far, the best option on the market so I decided to purchase one. I've been through three food drums and each has had the handle and locking mechanism crack. It leaks when you have anything more than two cups in the 14 cup drum and it can't seem to handle cheese grating with the disc insert. This is my second bad experience with KitchenAid (a terrible French door refrigerator was another bomb). And the Canadian customer service was, at best, indifferent. If their market reputation is their calling card, they are DEFINITELY on the decline. I won't buy any products from KitchenAid in the future.

We are very happy with this machine. It is powerful and quiet. We haven't had any glitches with it-it was well designed. This machine does a nice job of shredding vegetables for coleslaw. The four cup mini bowl is a great innovation for smaller jobs, like making a small batch of guacamole. Considering the price which was less than $120 after the rebate and the free shipping I thought it was a great value. The shipping was fast and the rebate check came in less than two weeks.
