Great Machine, But It's Huge! 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Bought it a month ago and love it. Bigger than we expected...its counter-top footprint is substantial and its height is about .75" taller than the bottom of our kitchen cabinets, so we store it in our pantry rather than leaving it ready to use in the kitchen. If your space is limited, you may want to consider a smaller processor. It's also heavy, so if lifting and carrying 30 pounds is a problem, again, maybe a smaller processor would be better for you. It's quiet. The storage bin that contains the accessories is sturdy and easy to put away. The controls are very fundamental...Off, On, and Pulse. The large capacity is our favorite feature. No regrets with this purchase.

I love this product so much that I had to search for it on a couple different websites to tell people how great it is. My husband got it for me for my birthday because I had talked about getting one since we got married three years ago. I used ot to mix the ingredients of a pie crust for chicken pot pie, and it mixed everything perfectly. Then I put all the attachments into the dishwasher and ended up dirtying only one dish rather than the ten I used to dirty while making this crust. It was so easy that I am considering making more crusts to freeze for a quick use later. I love this product. I have now owned it for about three months and have had no mechanical problems either.

Editorial Review:

Prepare foods without cutting them into smaller pieces. The Big Mouth food processor can handle whole tomatoes, potatoes and other large foods. The specially designed food chute grabs the food and helps you achieve even slices for the whole item. With 450 watts and 4 speeds, you can prepare any food. This model comes with an extra slicing disk and spatula.

My next food processer will be a different brand, but this was good for a first. 3 out of 5 stars.

I bought this food processor about 3 years ago, and it really hasn't been that bad. When I first started cooking, before I became more particular about my preparation methods, it was a great deal at Kmart for under $50. However, after 3 years, it does have some problems that I find incredibly annoying whenever I use it.

-CAPACITY: It doesn't seem to have a 10-cup capacity as advertised. The max fill line is actually lower on the bowl than one would expect. The max liquid line is very restrictive. If you fill over this line. The machine WILL leak. A lot.
-CLEANING: I don't have a dishwasher, so I wash by hand. Under the handle is a hollow tube with a very narrow opening. This is incredibly hard to clean if debris gets in it, and since it's clear, it looks pretty bad too.
-SLICE/SHRED DISC: I wish there was more than one, so that my only choice isn't coarse shredding or paper-thin slices. Food has a strong tendency to get caught in the crevice between the feed tube and the end of the cover. This is more likely with small food, like carrots, and makes the disc highly inefficient.
-FEED TUBE: Couldn't they have made it bigger? It is too narrow to fit many vegetables unless you halve them first.

On the plus side, I find it remarkable that it is still running. My roommate did kill the motor less than a year after I got it, but I got a warranty replacement and it has been going ever since. I've mixed some stiff doughs in it, and although it slowed, it did not die. There is a small lip on the bottom, so when the machine does leak, the liquid does not reach the vents on the bottom. I do wish it had variable speed, but I've never found it too fast for my purposes.

Editorial Review:

With 500 watts of power and 10-cup capacity, one speed plus pulse, the FP1550S an easily handle all your food processing needs. Included are a chopping blade, dough blade and reversible slicing / shredding disk. The smooth buttons on the touchpad controls are easy to wipe clean and all parts of dishwasher safe. The brushed stainless steel base with black accents blends in with modern kitchen decor.

Why waste your money!! 1 out of 5 stars.

I used this twice!! The first time was to make Ham salad and it worked great!!! How ever the second time I sliced 5 potatoes and the slice/shred disk broke!! No wonder it was an black friday item at Wal-Mart!

I was content with it for a while. 2 out of 5 stars.

I had this product about 2 years. I used it prob. 3-4 x's a month, mainly just making hummus or soups, so I didn't go very hard on it at all. I never used any blade other than the chopper. Mine was liad to rest because the blade got stuck on the bowl and would not come off. The blade will not turn so I can not use the product anymore. I tried everything to get that thing off of there! Soaking in soapy water, using 2 screw-drivers to try and pop it off, hitting a screwdriver with a hammer on the underside. There was no saving it. I called customer service and to replace the two parts would be $34 (which was $5 more than what I origionally paid for it at Walmart). I'm not buying another black and decker. I was pretty happy with it up until this happened, never had any problems with the motor or anything... but having a piece get stuck on there sucks and I didn't treat it badly at all. Other complaints the plastic bowl got a very small crack after a year or so and would leak, but I could pretty much fix that with a piece of tape over the crack. The thing also leaked contents out of it sometimes (through the top part) and cleaning the side shoot wasn't easy, but was doable with sponge without unscrewing. I could look past the leaking and the crack... but not so much the part getting stuck making the thing unusable.

In crisp white, the Viking 12-cup food processor is a handsome addition to your kitchen countertop. It's equipped with a 625-watt motor yet is surprisingly silent as it chops, slices and dices. The larger, 12-cup work bowl has a cast-metal handle and a sturdy, die-cast metal base - use it for all your bigger chopping tasks. Also included with your Viking food processor is a smaller, 3-cup work bowl - ideal for chopping nuts or mincing fresh garlic. In front, Viking's large control knob includes an On/Off and Pulse function. On the back, another Viking exclusive: rear wheels to help maneuver across countertops. The discs come with a caddy for storing.

This thing is going back to the store! The blade is too far from the chute, allowing food to be pulled into the area above the blade causing jams and a mess. The fit between the blade and the shaft is sloppy allowing the blade to rock. Not good when spinning as the cut becomes uneven and allows even more room between the blade and the chute. The blade is to be flipped for either slicing or shredding. The letters on the blade are barely readable, although the sides are self-explanatory. The shredding edges on our model were not stamped properly so as to have a clean edge for cutting.
Don't waste your time! Spend a little more and have less trouble.

With a 10 year warranty this sleek, silver bodied baby is a hard to beat powerhouse 5 out of 5 stars.

I found this model at a local warehouse store and bought it after much debate about whether to go for the Cuisinart or the Kitchenaid. I'm glad I went for this model. It costs less than the Kitchenaid and therefore doesn't have as many gadgets with it, but for my needs at the moment 2 slicing/shredding discs and a 2 blades (pureeing/mixing and dough blade) are good enough for me. The quality of the processor is great. Easy to assemble and the work bowl is very easy to clean. The work bowl has been redesigned from earlier models with little oval openings in the handle in case any water gets in while washing, so it will dry out thoroughly.

The safety features are great too. My first couple times using the machine I didn't have the bowl properly attached, so after a few seconds of me thinking I got a lemon because nothing happened when I pushed the ON button, I realized it was the error of my ways for not attaching the work bowl properly on the base.

It has lots of power. I got it for myself at Christmas 2009 and I've made salsas, pestos, dips. It shreds cheese like a dream. I've sliced every kind of vegetable I could think of slicing, and I LOVE this machine. I love cooking and never really minded doing all the prep with chopping veggies but I've had a epiphany with this processor. It's now my superhero in the kitchen.

And the another great bonus is that it comes with a 10 year warranty. Kitchenaid only has a 1 year warranty which also made me very leary about that product. If a company can stand behind the quality of their product why only give it a warranty for 1 year. (Not to diss Kitchenaid, I have a stand mixer from them that I love) but I felt more comfortable buying a processor that came with a 10 year warranty. But remember folks, read the manual before using it. After reading hundreds of reviews on food processors before buying one for myself, I came to the conclusion that alot of low reviews were because of user error.

What Has Cuisinart Done? 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 11 people found this review helpful.

I was the first my neighborhood to buy a Cuisinart 30 years ago. It served me very very well for all these years. Time to get a new one so I purchased this model. It was impossible to clean, very difficult to use, and died after 3 uses. Save yourself some grief.

Very nice 5 out of 5 stars.

I am very pleased with this food processor. It is sturdy, and works well. However, I often have to work in batches. If I had it to do over, I'd purchase the 11-cup model instead. But that's my fault, not the machine's.
