I am single and when I cook for one or two I enjoy this Cuisinart Food Processor. It is easy to clean and doesn't take up a lot of space. Excellent for dicing or pureeing tomatoes, herbes, and vegetables from my summer garden for sauces too. When I have extra I just add some olive oil to the batch and instant pesto. I can freeze the pesto for later use. The food processor has plenty of power for those smaller jobs.

For those who already have the Cuisinart SmartPower blender, this is an awesome addition to an already versatile kitchen tool. This food-processor attachment is used in place of the blender pitcher, and fits perfectly on the base of SPB-7 series blenders. Along with the work bowl, it comes with a chopping blade and a reversible disk for slicing or shredding. From piecrust to potato salad, there are plenty of dishes that a food processor makes short work of, but that short blender blades simply can't handle. The Krups GVA242 24-Ounce Mini Chopper is a wonder. After the frustration of dealing with one or more Cuisanart small capacity choppers, it is a distinct pleasure to use the Krups which chops evenly and quickly thanks to a powerful motor and well-designed blade configuration. I wish the bowl had a smooth contour rather than ridged design used here as it would make emptying the bowl much easier. However, that is a small inconvenience in respect to the superb job this chopper does. Anyone fed up with the uneven clumps provided by the Cuisanart mini choppers should give this Krups chopper a try.

The Cuisinart Mini-Prep food processor stands 8 inches tall and just over 4 inches wide, but don't let the size fool you. The base houses a motor so powerful that you need to stabilize it with one hand when using the high setting to whip up a strawberry-banana smoothie for one in less than a minute. The clear plastic prep bowl locks into place with a simple twist, while the blades can be set sharp side up for chopping onions or grating Parmesan cheese, or turned blunt side up for making walnut pesto or whipping up chocolate frosting. The set includes a spatula and a cleaning brush to remove coffee grounds.For best results, cut ingredients into small, even pieces--about 1/2-inch square or so works well. In general, use the sharp-edge approach for low speed and the blunt side of the blades for high speed. If you need to run the motor for longer than one minute, pause and begin again. The bowl, cover, and blade assembly can all be run through the dishwasher, but watch your fingers when dissembling the machine, as the blades are extremely sharp. --Irene Svete

I previously had one of these and wanted to replace it. This one is similar, except that it is slightly smaller and flat-out does not chop vegetables very well. The fact that it has two speeds makes no difference in that there's no apparent difference between them -- they're both too slow. I now have to go back to looking for the original salsa maker -- which I liked very much. This one is not it.

This mini food processor has the double title of "salsa maker" for good reason: the tradeoff for its tasty purchase price is a bit of extra time chopping and dicing--best for small batches of sauce or salsas. Foods should be chopped no larger than 1 inch before you put them in the little processor, just over 2-1/2 inches high--and be careful not to overload. That said, the blades mounted on the cylinder are razor-sharp, and the blending attachment does a decent job of whipping and mixing. --Tony Mason

If you love manual choppers, as I do, this one is one of the best. I was even able to chop garlic to a very fine consistancy. Highly recommended for those who do not desire to plug everything in.

- Large, sturdy, and strong enough to chop onions, walnuts, carrots, small birds (etc.), well designed and made, simple to use by anyone and clean properly and safely even up over the blades.- Works great with the blade over a good cutting board or with the bottom container attached.- No more onion hassle or attempting to be a Food Channel chef fighting back the tears or playing "count the fingers" after you get too close with your top-rated Santoku knife.- Properly packed and delivered in perfect condition but no sweet young thing was included to show me how to use the chopper.- There are always welding goggles or professional diving gear you can buy and use - or even surplus NASA helmets - but why? -- Jungle Jim

I purchased the Toastmaster chopper about 2 years ago and use it once every few weeks. It is just the right appliance for chopping onions, celery, etc. Today, while opening the lid, the plastic piece that engages the motor broke off. There is no way to fix it and I don't think I can buy a replacement part. It is a shame to throw away a perfectly good machine because one small piece is broken - but it won't work without it :-(
